So impressed with the baking and I do love a good teapot - tea from a teapot seems so decadent in this day and age, but it does taste different (better) in my view! Have a lovely time off! x2

I'll look up The Flower Girls, foxgloves. I'm listening to The Secrets of Strangers which I'm enjoying. I agree Rebecca that tea from a teapot in a cup and saucer feels more special.I enjoyed my week off and it made me more determined to retire next year. It's been a low spend month apart from ..... a tale of 2 shopping trips .....
On Friday after much discussion we agreed to get 2 wagyu burgers and 4 sausages from the butcher. Burgers for Saturday tea and sausages for Sunday brunch. OH returned to the car with 8 sausages, 2 burgers, 2 pork chops and .....an enormous piece of tomahawk steak costing £25 🤯. The rationale was that the person in front had bought chops and tomahawk steak and it sounded nice 🤷♀️.
by contrast on Saturday I combined my Lidl vouchers and bought lots of shopping including milk, bread, cheese, fresh fruit and veg for £14 which gave me an £8 off voucher for my next shop.
the tomahawk steak was nice but not £25 worth of nice.Other than that not much spent this month and the credit card bill is generated on Friday so hoping not to spend between now and then. Will be avoiding the butchers !3 -
Glad you had a good week off work. Ouch to the butcher’s bill. At least it didn’t ruin your low spend month though.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Oh that's interesting, Blackcats, as Mr F has recently been hanging his nose over tomahawk steaks. Reckon the red mist could be imminent......

What is it without our DHs and steak? My DH asked me if I'd seen our butcher's Facebook post - they've got tomahawk steaks for £xx (can't remember how much but not cheap!) - he hasn't happy when I said he can keep 'em! I've got steaks in the freezer we don't need any more, even if they are on special offer!

I can see why men are attracted to the concept of the tomahawk steak! They are VERY big, very meaty and look like the sort of thing Fred Flinstone had on his dinner plate. Because they are so big the cost is high. I'm not kidding this thing was bigger than my cat at full stretch 🤣. And the random addition of pork chops was bewildering. I probably haven't had a pork chop since I was living at home with my parents. These chops were huge too and I managed to get 2 nights' dinner out of them. Planning to eat veggie dinners for a couple of days to recover from the recent meat fest.3

SHolmes, I'd never heard of it either and most of the cooking info on line was American based. So scores on the doors for spending this month are looking good. I have spent less in January and February combined than I did for the average month in 2020. It's not a sustainable level of low spending but has really opened my eyes to how little I can spend and not feel that I'm going without.I've used lots of existing stuff from home which has given plenty of variation. Swopped some table lamps around, worn some jewellery that I haven't worn for a while, used shower gels and body lotions that were Christmas gifts. All helping me not to spend on new things .... apart from that bloomin steak!!This is officially the last mention of the steak 🤐3

LOL at the steak...
Really well done at lowering your costs. Shopping from home always good too...

Really glad it's Friday. Horrid week at work. So busy with hour after hour staring at a screen for video conferencing.I've got lots of home admin to do tomorrow but I shall put my music on, make a pot of tea and tackle the mountain of paperwork that has crept up on me. I've also got lots of ends to tidy up on a craft project that is nearly finished. I expect it will be difficult to sleep tonight as I try to contain my excitement about my planned Saturday fun 🥳5
