Thank you PIP - always nice when someone else notices a mature approach and rational thinking.
so, in terms of being a greedy friend, I can reassure you that however distasteful it might be merely having beans with egg and chips does not qualify you as a greedy friend.
the greedy friend in question eats vast quantities of food, eg 1/4 of a 2lb loaf cake with a cup of coffee and at lunchtime makes their sandwich so deep that they nearly need to unhinge their jaw in order to take a bite.

Really enjoyed picking up youngest gc from nursery yesterday despite the pouring rain.  On my walk there I was cross when splashed by a passing van yet on the way back when we both got splashed we laughed and compared how wet we were.  We sang songs and recited nursery rhymes all the way home.  The joy of seeing life through a child's eyes.

Saturday fakeaway is chicken kebab, homemade garlic sauce, salad and home made flatbread.  It's been a combined effort - I did all the prep,  MrBC doing the cooking while I watch the football.

Bought some cherries from the greengrocer today which are delicious.  They were meant to be instead of rather than as well as a slice of cake but best laid plans .....

Love the wet car anecdote. Finding joy in the rain is essential at the moment!

The garden room sounds like it will be amazing.

    Cherries and cake sound great.

Thank you SH - cherries and cake were very nice.
thanks PIP - looks like I'll be busy playing the well known Rod Stewart anthem as I set off on my many voyages.

feeling organised as I've prepped my to do list for next week and drawn up a 7 day meal plan.  Just as well if I start winning all these cruises 😎

We've had torrential rain, bright sunshine, massive claps of thunder and a rainbow.  4 seasons in one day.  Hoping it will stay dry tomorrow as I've also got a basket of washing ready to peg out.

Good luck for clothes drying weather!

We had a fair few seasons here today too - but I managed to shelter under trees for the worst of the rain and then had lovely sunshine again.

  • Got to be in it to win it, no harm in having a go!  Thanks for immediately replacing the Rod Stewart song that you put in my head with the Crowded House song instead

Mmmm....cherries! Not had any yet this year - I'll need to keep my eyes out for the British ones coming through! Strawberries are pretty much a weekly purchase at the moment - although I definitely think we need to get some plants sorted out for future years!

Thank you SH - we did manage to get the washing dry yesterday - not a chance today though as it's been pouring down.  We got drenched walking back from my dad's!
PIP - I really like Crowded House - I think their music has stood the test of time.  I've got Fall at your Feet stuck in my head now if you would like to share that 😉
@lucielle - we are confident we will get lots of use from the garden room all year round and we've got lots of furniture in the garage t ready for when it's finally built.  The rain is holding the garden prep work up.  Keep reminding myself to be patient.  Patience is wearing a bit thin now after another wet weather day.
@EssexHebridean - the supermarket cherries I bought a couple of weeks ago were flavourless but the ones from the greengrocer were glorious.  Gave some to my dad today which he thoroughly enjoyed.  Dad's dad worked at Covent Garden market in the 1930's and 1940's so although it was a big family without much money there was always plenty of fresh fruit and veg.  Dad says they had fruit that was very unusual for the working class in that era - like pomegranate and pineapple.

Shopped from home today - well actually it was shopping from my mum's but I think that counts.  I wanted a notelet to send to an elderly neighbour and remembered that my mum loved to have a supply of notelets so with my dad's permission I brought a box home with me.  I think the neighbour will appreciate a pretty card.

By contrast I feel like we wasted £6.25 on a coffee and hot chocolate this afternoon.  The most insipid hot chocolate I've had for a long time.  On the bright side it was nice to chat and people watch but still wish that £6.25 was still in my purse.
  • That's lovely your mum contributed to your nice thing for the neighbour and helped you be mse 😊
Ach well on the coffee and hot chocolate, sometimes one has to speculate to accumulate (knowledge about where does a worthwhile treat). As long as you had a good time it was a worthwhile investment.
I do now have Fall at your Feet in my head and I am not displeased!

You and your mentions of pineapples on the diaries, just embrace your retirement and join a swingers group if that's what you fancy 😁
