Mr BC is eligible for the nationwide bonus but he only just meets the eligibility criteria as he doesn't really use it as his main current account. I'm not a nationwide customer but might take advantage of their current switching offer.  Kicking myself that I didn't get around to doing this in time for the bonus but at least MrBC will be able to share his bonus with me.

After a busy week we took advantage of the sunshine and popped down to the coast.  Just over an hour's drive and we found some free parking.  We took an old style picnic with us - cheese and tomato rolls, crisps, a pot of strawberries and a flask of tea for me and coffee for MrBC.  We had a nice walk and then treated ourselves to a healthy, low calorie treat ....a 99 rolled in crushed biscoff.  What a marvellous culinary invention that is.  The ice cream van was busy and most people were having a biscoff 99 or an Oreo 99.

feel the need to get back to some healthier eating and more diligent budgeting.  Will get into the habit of posting each day to get myself back on track.  Just finishing off the dark milk chocolate so it doesn't tempt me tomorrow and ruin my new healthy eating regime 😉
  • What a lovely sounding day, that is exactly the freedom and pleasure your retirement should be bringing! (Along with cocktails and cards in your exquisite hall obvs)

Good that at least the nationwide bonus has made it into the household coffers

I also need to do healthier (well, less) eating, might have had rather a lot of a box of milk tray this evening on the grounds of needing to use up edibles before we move, and we all know how much of a difference chocolates make to the space available in a moving van. Needless to say, I will not be in the moving van 😁

@PennysIntoPounds we had that conversation yesterday - how fortunate we are to be able to enjoy spending the day with no time pressures or ahead full of work thoughts.
well done for lightening the load for moving day by dealing with those chocolates.

Healthy eating today - yoghurt and berries for breakfast.  Salmon and cucumber sandwiches for lunch.  Left twix for me and right twix for MrBC.  Tea will be scallops with bacon and chili, jersey royals and asparagus.

I love jersey royals!  We brought some guernsey new potatoes home from our holiday and they were delicious.  There were some fab hedge veg stalls around the island.  Home grown veg with an honesty box is such a lovely idea.

we are going to a friend's charity gig tonight - £10 a ticket so a cheap night out for a good cause.

We really enjoyed the music gig last night.  The band performed a good range of songs and there was a nice atmosphere.  A local business paid for the venue so all the money is going to 2 of our nearby charities.  We spent £10 on raffle tickets and as usual won nothing.  Also splashed out on 2 cans of lemonade, a kitkat (to share) and a bag of salt and vinegar crisps each.

pretty walk today in the sunshine with our trusty flasks.  Swathes of tall daisy type flowers filling the landscape and quite a few butterflies which were very tiny so blink and you missed them.

£2 spent on the car park but other than that a NSD.
roast chicken for dinner tonight with plenty of leftovers for tomorrow.  Fried egg sandwich for lunch - this was my mum's favourite lunch.  Tried to remember our healthy eating efforts so used brown bread, thinnest spread of butter and sprayed a very thin film of cooking oil.  Possibly net zero calories?

    thanks for the encouragement @savingholmes.
@Lucielle - I'm trying to adjust what we eat rather than formally diet to try to make sustainable changes.

had a delicious chicken, bacon and avocado salad tonight with home made warm potato salad.

however, we have succumbed to the box of chocolates that have been in the cupboard for a few weeks.  The reason they've remained in the cupboard rather than already eaten is because they are a gift from Dubai and are camel milk chocolate!  Yes, that's how much I wanted some chocolate 😳.  Actually it tasted very nice and I had 3 to make sure they were ok.

funny weather today with warm sunshine this morning which encouraged me to put on a summer dress and then torrential rain mid afternoon.  Back in trousers and a jumper now.

No spend day today.  Have worked out a budget from 1st to 17th June.  Will then do a second budget from 18th June which is when next payments reach my account.  The 18th budget will run til 5th July to cover all start of the month bills and the General Electric too 😉

Camel milk chocolate 🤔 I thought I’d misread and you meant caramel 🤣
