Garage have agreed to take the clutch off the bill and knock the labour rate down. Can't say much fairer than that :)

Just spoke to the mechanic and he says the bearing on the clutch had gone? That caused the problem with the slave cylinder, rather than the other way round. Warranty is 12 months on the clutch :(

So it would have been all done under warranty if you'd done the 7000 miles in under 12 months. :(

Get it done, and either put more miles on it and get it done again free, or get rid at 12 months.

Sounds like what went wrong with my brother's fiat. The release bearing must have partially seized- it wore through the fingers on the clutch outer until it eventually punched through, then the pedal hit the floor but the clutch stayed engaged. Can't remember if the pedal stayed down.

I know where there is a Peugeot 206 GTi standing that has done the same, that had a complete clutch fitted a couple of years before too.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Was the clutch kit OEM or was it an ebay knock off?
There is no way in my opinion that a correctly manufactured clutch would seize after 7K miles
In my time i have fitted dozens of clutches always Valeo
I have never seen a seized release bearing if the clutch coming out was from the factory and never had one back that had seized.
