Bright LED Streetlight Outside Flat Purchase
Comments

We have a street light outside our bedroom window, on the other side of the road but it's not a particularly wide road so it's not far away.
I emailed the council about it as it shone brightly through our bedroom window - we do have blackout curtains but the light getting in around the edges made the room daylight-bright at night. Within two days they'd sent somebody to fit a little hood thing to it. The street is still well lit but it's not coming in our window to anywhere near the same extent.
Obviously you're not going to get pitch black (or 'natural' light) anywhere in London (we're South London) but it's worth asking the council. Some are quite obliging. Then get blackout curtains like everybody else in London! Get one of those alarm clocks that lights the room gradually if you want to pretend you're getting natural light.0 -
Issue is that LEDs produce a bright white light (not soft glow) that essentially require blackout curtains or to sleep in a very brightly lit room (even with diffusion) in order to let any light in at all (see Rachel's post above). The room glows.
Like another poster I like to live in a fishbowl. Highly unusual I know but it is a personal preference that I had ensured we did not go to viewings or make offer on places that did not meet this criteria. It actually is top of my must have list and there were only 3 on there - lots of natural light, privacy (ability to walk around as one pleases with no curtains), and open plan. Also no A roads.
Believe it or not, you still can see a dark night sky in South London very clearly.0 -

Why didn't you include not having a street light outside as a critrerion?

I had the sun shining in my bedroom this morning (low in the sky) far brighter than any moon or LED light and natural.
Turned over and warned my bum.
Can't do that on a ground floor facing the street.0 -

pinkteapot wrote:OP - your attitude towards posters on this thread is disgusting, particularly your sarcastic responses to AdrianC. The forum rules include 'be nice to all Moneysavers'. I've reported your posts.

If you want to report a post/thread/OP.
Just do it instead of telling everyone about it !
