    Don't even understand bitcoin lol.
We do have a small electric fan heater but don't think we have used it that much? Surely it would need to be on round the clock?

My best guess would be the use of electric fires, what with it being winter and everything. Washers, dryers, TVs, ineffective lights, leaving things on standby... None of this stuff runs on fresh air.

Electric heating is 100% effective. You run it for an hour it uses 1KwH of electricity. If you were to leave it on 24hrs a day it would use 24kWh, 720kWh a month.

No we don't have an immersion
  • So that's about 22kWh per day. High, but certainly not impossible. I'm using about 18kWh a day at the moment, but somehow managed to use 50kWh in two days last week (still not entirely sure what happened to make it go up so much). I do have an induction hob though.

I seem to remember, from past experimentation, that my gas boiler actually uses quite a lot of electricity.

Important point - "modern" gas boilers have a circulating pump and an exhaust fan both drawing leccy - if the boiler is on all day (as against a couple of hours am/pm) , I have found that we use the equivalent of 100kwh pm extra:(

651 Kwh in a month seems to be a lot.

There can be all kinds of causes for in jump in consumption - An iffy meter/ A failing appliance ( fridges & freezers are prime candidates)/ A wiring fault

Go back through the past bills and note the Daily consumption on each one - Most households are creatures of habit and the daily consumption will only vary just a little, until that is, something changes See above

Ha. But you've got two naughty people who don't pay bills and think electricity is free. :)
