Why won’t my Christmas tree branches stay up?

  • They have never been bent downwards, we tie the tree up at the end of Christmas by pushing the branches UP (exactly how we bought the tree). Pushing them up doesn’t rectify the issue - the branches are so loose they move up and down with ease and don’t hold in place in any position except downwards due to gravity.

Sorry, but it's obvious from viewing the images of the good and faulty branches that they have been bent downwards by somebody, at some point. Either that or severe metal fatigue set in some time after the tree was returned to its box.

Okay well since I can say with absolute certainty that neither me or my partner have bent the branches down and we bought the tree new, I can only assume severe metal fatigue has set in over the space of a short three years. We keep the tree in the shed outside so not sure if that could be related.

I think the metal fatigue comment is tongue-in-cheek.

I don't suppose the trunk comes apart into sections and one has been put in upside down?

OK nobody bent them, do you have eyes? you can see the shape of the ends of the good branches? the drooping branches need to have the same shape on the ends, achieve that any way you want, hammer, pliers, Uri Geller. Im out.

It's been in your shed. Could somebody (kids?) have got in there, decided to play with the tree then couldn't get it back in the box and have forced the branches?
