    I have about 30k worth of debt.
    Would like to pay off as much as possible, but dont know how this works.
    I'll say, I'll try to pay off £5000.

    Given that I'm actually taking out a big chunk of debt early next year for home renovations, I'd like to set a target that will reflect paying that off as well as my remaining/ existing £8k of debt.
