Why do you think they will think you have stolen it if you have a perfectly valid receipt which proves you paid for it from one of their other stores?

It is a way of making your own BOGOF offer, same as returning a stolen one with a receipt for a refund. Yes it does happen regularly.
  • Perhaps I should complain about my local supermarket where the security alarm goes off when I walk into the store.

A bit nervous that they will think I've stolen it from the store!

The complaint is going in against the person who didn't remove the tag when they put my jumper in the bag. I've googled the nearest Debenhams in the location tomorrow and it is 30m each way.

Why do you need to complain? Have you never made a mistake?

Go to the other store and they will remove it

    Edit
Just realised it was posted yesterday

    OP what did you do

Ring the store before you go in, they may use different a different type of security system.

    Quite
I cannot see what difference it makes to Debenhams where the OP goes
If the local store think it may be stolen why might the original store not think the same ?
In reality they will not care less and will remove it without trouble
( I see from a later post they did)
