  • What do you want to achieve by complaining? Mistakes happen and you're not due any compo.
  • Go into the branch in the place you're going to with the jumper and the receipt and they will remove the tag, 100% forget about complaining, it's not such a big deal.
  • Then just go to their store near where you are tomorrow and ask them to help. They may help, they may not and you'll have to go back to the original store when you can if they won't help. After all, they might think you bought one and stole a second.
  • got a magnet :)
  • Shocker in human makes a mistake.
No need to go nuclear, pop into the store tomorrow with the receipt and they'll sort it for you.
If you start kicking off or moaning you might get the 'by the book' answer which will be to return to the original store - so I'd be polite.

I had this once, it was amusing.

Daughter bought a shirt at Universal in LA. Realised when we got back to the hotel some miles away that the tag was on. Couldn't return to Universal but were heading into Disney the following day.
Went to Disney guest services and showed them the receipt, had a good laugh at their rivals incompetence and they removed it for us happily.

Personally I'd pop into your nearest clothing store with your receipt and do the same, 'How crap are X company? Can you help me?' etc

    That'll reassure the OP!

I've had a similar problem myself and was certain they'd think I'd bought one last week and then come in with the receipt from that purchase and nicked a second one off the rack. But no - they just took the tag off.

    Hey all,

This is a weird one! :rotfl:

I bought a jumper from a store today and paid for it in full. I also have a receipt for this. It turns out that the person who served me didn't remove the security tag, and the alarm didn't go off when I left the store! Crazy situation.

I am using the item tomorrow in another part of the country and have no scope to go back to the original store (but they have a chain where I'm going and I have scope to go there).

I can't seem to cut off the tag without damaging this fairly expensive jumper, and I fear that I will look like a thief if I show up with a tagged jumper and a receipt from halfway across the country!

Any suggestions? Should I go to the store in the other part of the country? I am 100% putting in a complaint to their head office over this with proof of purchase but this is absurd!

"I am 100% putting in a complaint to their head office"...how much do you want
  • I had that happen, I ended up getting a hacksaw round it to cut it off.
