Missed out on a house - how do I get over it?!

I went to my very first house viewing, loved the place and the asking price was just within my budget. I thought it might be stupid to buy the only house I'd ever viewed so continued to view properties over the next 3 weeks.
The vendor was eager to sell - they wanted to move quickly and hadn't had any offers in the 2 months it had been advertised. The estate agent called me 4 times over those 3 weeks to ask if I wanted to make an offer.
I viewed other properties and nothing was as good. When I called to make an offer for the asking price, the agent informed me someone was viewing the property that day (no one had viewed it since me) and of course, as per my luck, we entered a bidding war which they won.
Ultimately they could afford to pay more which is fine, I'm just kicking myself that if I'd made an offer much sooner, I'm sure it would have been accepted and I wouldn't be posting this.
Now I can't stop thinking about the place! When I view other properties I end up comparing them!
So annoyed with myself, I hate house hunting!

It ain't over until it is over....
Keep looking. An even better house may turn up and there's nothing to say the original house won't be back on the market before long. Isn't it statistically one in every three sales that falls through?0 -
I'm glad I didn't get my first choice house, overpriced and not worth it and much happier where I am now"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

I'll keep all crossed you find what you're looking for soon....
But do make sure the EA selling the house you want has your contact details in case the sale falls through.0 -
"How do I get over it"?
Appreciate that life is a wonderful but all too transient gift; then resolve not to let anything as insignificant as possessions/others detract from the experience.
TLDR?......Perspective.0 -
BTW, hope that didn't sound harsh/judgemental.....was not intended as such

With the benefit of hindsight it is likely you will consider you gave yourself excess angst over this.
Good luck!
Not at all, you are perfectly right! It's just one of those occasions that I can't see the wood for the trees until some time later and I'll wonder what all the fuss was about

We had an offer accepted on a house last year - it was perfect.
Then our sale fell through, and they accepted another (higher) offer almost immediately. I was gutted.
We sold our house this year (were in rented and I wouldn’t even look on Rightmove until exchange!), and have found THE house immediately - it’s even better than the last one, so I’m glad it fell through really. I would have been happy there, but I feel this house is even better.
The right house that was meant to be, will come along! (And your budget will probably increase in the meantime).0 -
Lucky.
It could have been a ghost bidder and won.0
