i'm on o2 and before i took my upgrade they said there is no way they can even offer £10 off it let alone give it for free
so if you want it you got to pay the full price for it0 -
lol forget any decent discounts on an iphone.not gonna happenAccording to a new study performed by Gfk NOP, the Apple iPhone is perceived to be too expensive in the UK, and that most will not purchase due to the high price.
The research, a poll of 500 UK citizens suggested that outside of the "Apple cult" fans, the regular consumer will not be buying the device. Actually, according to the survey, a remarkable 72% said they would not be buying the device because of the price.
Brand awareness, as could be expected, was very strong, with 75% saying they've heard of the brand. 30% said the one and only deterrent from buying the device was the price.
"Apple’s history proves that it has the magic touch when it comes to product development and marketing, however the iPhone has yet to Capture the imagination of the UK public. iPhone hype is in full-force, but our data shows that it is very much a considered purchase, with its high price turning many consumers off. We must take into account that the UK mobile market’s success has been down to subsidised handsets, therefore the iPhone’s price really stands out and consumers are not used to paying in excess of £200 for a phone”, Richard Jameson of GfK NOP commented.0 -
Dont know if they are doing any discounts(i highly doubt it). But when i did my upgrade today they asked if i was interested in one. I enquired why they asked me and apparently they have to ask everyone, methinks they didnt sell aswell as they hoped and they now have a fair few left:rotfl:The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

If you offer to pay them upfront for the phone, say £100-150 quid, have a decent spend per month and are percieved to be a customer who wil make O2 some cash over the course of a year, you might stand a chance;). My contract is up in April and I certainly will push for one, hopefully by that time they wil be getting desperate to shift them:). Truthfully I don't think they are selling well because of the lack of a decent deal and a pay as you go option:).0

I work for one of the outlets that are selling them they arent selling as well as they did in the US as the market here is different the US still pay for phones and dont get so much subsidy for the networks.
At first my company said no staff discount allowed on them at all.
Now we are told we can have them @ £200
I think they may come down my store alone has about 70 in stock and we're lucky if we are selling one a day. Stock that doesnt sell makes no money even if the network drops the price is better than nothing for them I'd personally hang off and watch what happens.Isn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?0 -
02 are going to make the IPhone available to all dealers as of January 1st.
If you have a look at http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/ (USA site) and have a look at the standard phones they offer, you will see why the IPhone was such a great hit in the USA. They still have the Motorola V3 as a current phone...
Apple control the price (which i thought was illegal) that the IPhone is to be sold at, and don't want to devalue it until they have to.
Wait for the next generation IPhone....0 -
The US is way behind us in terms of technology in mobile phones so the Iphone is a breath of fresh air. According to news articles only 26,500 Iphones have been activated so far, I believe O2 had banked on that number being closer to 100,000 at this stage. It seems very likely therefore that the upfront cost and the contract will change after Christmas, if Apple allows that to happen.0

of course when you take into consideration that at the end of the 18 month contract you will have paid £899 for the phone and line rental is tooo steep
as with new technology people rush out and but to show off but the price may drop after xmas0 -
My uncle is high up in marketing for O2 and will get one free0
