Quick question -
Has anyone got multiple bank accounts with the same bank? If so how would this work on your mobile app - do you need to log in separately with each account. I no most banks have it all on one account page but what if you have two separate accounts which require separate log ins

If the other accounts are savings accounts (regular savers for example or easy access) they should all appear together.
However in theory if all the accounts belong to the same person they should appear under the same login. But if you need two separate log ins you probably wouldn't be able to see them all on the same screen. It may depend on the bank.0 -
Yes this is what i thought. The reason i asked is i have currently got basic bank accounts and ive applied for current accounts. I do not believe i will get accepted yet because my current credit file is still not amazing although better then before. The only positive is that i was getting rejected straight away before on the application stage whereas now i am getting referred. So that is a step in the right direction. I believe in about a year i will be able to open a current account.
However it does not let me upgrade my account and says i must apply for a current account separately. So i am just asking on the basis of some miracle my application gets through it will mean i will have a basic account and current account with the same bank but two different sort codes and logins as they login usernames are going to be different.0 -

Very true and i take on your point. However i just wanted to test the waters to see if i got accepted for a current bank. It was worth the one extra search for me. Ive had enough of basic accounts. I will not be applying again for another year so hopefully it will have dropped off by then0

If you want a full account, have you tried Starling? I believe they don't do a full credit check unless you request an overdraft
In answer to your original Q: I have multiple accounts at lots of banks. At each bank, all my accounts with that bank are visible under a single login, in both, online and mobile banking.0 -
I do have starling and monzo accounts with no overdraft. But i dont trust them as much as the high street banks, to many horror stories. So i dont use them as a main account. I want a current account with any high street bank as a main one.
It seems its one of those rare occasions in which if i do somehow get a current account and still have the basic account with the same provider then i will need two logins. If they upgrade me then ile lose the basic and just have the current
Ive had a phone call with them to see where my application is and i got the standard 'you will get a response by email or letter within 5 days' which basically means i am unsuccessful.
I knew my chances were slim going in but there is hope i got referred rather then straight up rejected
So hopefully i am heading in the right direction, i believe a year of maintaining my accounts and now i have credit cards aswell that should hopefully boost my rating in the next year0 -
Your decision, obviously. As a general point of principle, relying on a single bank account isn't a good idea, anyway, as all sorts of issues might prevent access to any given account. High Street banks aren't immune to issues, as we have seen numerous times, with several different ones.
TBH, I don't understand why you would clamour a High Street bank account - - - do you need access to a Branch? If so, pray it still exists in 6 months time.
Good luck with your efforts, anyway.0 -
I do have a few basic accounts so i am not relying on a single one. But i would like at least one current account. I have read alot of horror stories in regards to Monzo and Starling, especially on this very forum so i think its safer to use high street banks then app based ones as my main account
Would u not agree?0 -
I wouldn't use either Monzo and Starling as my main accounts as they don't offer multi-channel access - needed IMO in a crunch.
A basic account with a high street bank and secondary with either of the above would be fine.
OP - who is the high street provider that won't upgrade and what are you trying to achieve? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Might surprise you to know that a lot of people who work in banks. LOVE the Monzo account.
You have a basic acc with a high street bank. You have 2 other accounts. Use one of them for you daily spends and have bills out of the high street one.
ALL your banking can be done via apps as such you can move money as and when you want.Life in the slow lane0
