This takes the biscuit, I currently have 1 working day dispatch on and sold a cheap £8 item on Saturday afternoon. Had a message from the buyer yesterday evening telling me as I couldn't be bothered to post this in a timely manner they demand a refund as they are now stuck with having to source a gift from somewhere else at great inconvenience as my item would no longer have arrived in time!
On what planet except ebay does a buyer buy on a Saturday after RM last post and consider a seller to be purposefully delaying posting and making it late by Sunday evening?
Obviously buyer on my blocked buyer list (I did that before refunding) but seriously

I'm afraid people think everyone works to the same timescale of Amazon Prime. You need to invest in a drone to speed things up!0

Amazon have completely skewed people's expectations when it comes to delivery. Said it for a while but I just don't see how it's sustainable. The poor guys delivering are earning hardly anything as it is.0

That is partly the issue. Ordered a £4.99 computer fan off Amazon on Saturday or Sunday? (early hours) and it arrived the same day.
How is there any profit in that? Although they probably average it out over all my orders and see a profit eventually.
Orderd some insect mesh 2 metre square off Amazon for 63p. From China but arrived fairly quickly. Thought the same with that, where is the profit.
Amazon fees and postage must have been close to that amount.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

As for customer expectations there's a mix. I recently had a customer who had an incorrect item delivered by Amazon. They'd left negative feedback but hadn't bothered asking for a refund. I currently have 4 similar customers. I'm much happier getting my money back than leaving feedback!
On the delivery, being an Amazon seller I mostly use fulfilment by Amazon. At this time of the year I also send a fair bit out myself. I use first class Royal Mail and send same day, I still get plenty complaining that they haven't had next day delivery..0 -

They probably just changed their mind and went on the offensive to make sure you cancelled. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -

While it has changed my expectations, it has done so in ways important to me, not the ones mentioned here. And as far as I can see they are reasonable.
1. I want a definite delivery date for anything not leterboxable, I do not want things left out in the rain in clear view when if they had managed to open the back gate there is a waterproof box they can put in (and no I am not going to suggest it as that puts the stealing as my responsibility). (yes amazon miss it sometimes, but it is 98%+ correct)
2. I want a trackable van from when it is X stops away. I may want a shower or a !!!!, I do not need to keep an eye out for 12 hours. (quite frqankly I would like the van trackable from departure, but I see why amazon does not, I am not unreasonable and would like the information however (and the ability for the vehicle to specify if they are delivering for others)).
3. I want to be kept updated. Not just the above, anything occuring on the way.
4. I may want the item fast, I may want a it must reach here before date (yes even amazon do not support that butt there dates are good enough).
As for next day, Amazon has always clarified what they mean by that (for the countries it applies to), some poeple are indeed idiots. (It is next day after dispatch from a local warehouse (and indeed usualy same day given that)).
Yes amazon can let you down, for example buying windscreenwipers it estimates delivery as next day and then suddenly they are coming from Germany. (I have had this multiple times). But I expect stock control is bad and once it updates you get a proper date and tracking (and a window to cancel).
Would I buy so much online if I could not have Amazon levels of delivery service? Not in the slightest. I will even pay £5 more for something with prime delivery levels if required. (preferably form amazon as well but...)
If you are selling on the internet please know that the delivery is resposible for 95% of what I care about. The item, I expect the item. The delivery I want it right and pain free. So many people selling want to wash their hands of it after they send it. (exclusions exist for some very specific items, but you still wish you did not have to put up with the pain).
I am shortly going to purchase something of ebay for the first tiem in many years. Why? It is well over half the price on amazon and still next day. (Amazon is cheaper than the websites for the product, but it is an area or gouging since compared to buying a "proper" one from the expected outlet they are cheap!).0 -
A bit off topic but I've just had an argument with the Amazon delivery guy about ID. He asked me for ID (I had bought some spirits and a high end electrical item) so I showed him my Driving license. He insisted it was not sufficient ID and kept waving his arms around saying 'card card' I asked him what card and he said 'local card for ID', I showed him a credit card but that was wrong again and he kept insisting I have a local card British for ID- I said I had nothing like that and if my Driving license was not sufficient he would have to take the stuff away again. he reluctantly made a note on his pad and I signed to say I had received the goods and he left muttering about people with no ID.
I have no idea what he wanted, my husband did wonder if he was from a European country that traditionally had some sort of Citizen or National card. He certainly was not a happy man and I don't think he was enjoying the work - poor man.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I have almost the opposite issue with Amazon. Dont have prime , and when I order stuff I go for the free option which has a delivery estimate of over a week. For my 2 most recent orders package has arrived next day , and I have not been around to receive it.0

That's just bizarre. I've ordered alcohol online before and don't recall ever being asked for ID by the delivery driver.0 -

Hmm, you are right , I buy a fair bit of booze from Amazon (have you seen the sloe gin at £11 today?) and haven't been asked for ID before. Perhaps it was for the IPad, but again I've bought things in the £300 region before and not had to show ID.
