Sky tv. No signal

Options
Hi,
Don’t know if anyone can help me but here goes... my Sky box just packed up last night. After being on the phone to Sky for an eternity it seems I needed an engineer to call at a cost of £65 min. However, I was talked into a Skyq box and it seemed the better option. However, I can’t get it installed until jan 4th. Either way, repair or new box it’s over a month to wait. I’ve threatened to cancel after being with them for ten years. They basically said goodbye! I seems I can’t cancel until feb 1st so I am stuck with no tv. I live alone and my tv is my lifeline. Any advice on how to get bog standard tv until jan please. I don’t have aerial so freevies isn’t an option. Thank you

You could use your Sky Go.

If you suddenly got no signal strength then it is probably a corroded connection so undo the wires from the LNB clean them and replace, do the same at the Sky box. You could also try connecting to different outlets on the LNB.
It may also be that the dish has moved slightly or the LNB has packed up.

Thank you. My lovely neighbour has been and sorted it. Bend wires or something.

Never pay Sky for a callout. Say you can't afford it, get put through to retentions, and a free callout will invariably be offered. You were probably still talking to the first tier drones, who don't have the authority to offer the freebies.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
