So a little bit about the situation my mother let me apply for an Argos card in her name and her address so I went ahead and did it she received a letter through the post to contact Argos for further information so she passed me the letter and told me to call on her behalf so I did and I said I was her on the phone and the application was fine then today she rang them not thinking and they asked if she rang yesterday she said no 🤦!♀️ They then said well somebody rang as you yesterday she said oh sorry i forgot I asked my daughter to call as me as I was busy lol so they said no problem we will mark it down on the file They haven’t declined the card as she has contacted them and stated what has happened

So my question now is will the card be accepted due to what’s happened or am I now Likley to be done for fraud and pretending to be her when she confirmed I did that to them on the phone please help panicking now

You will not be "done" for fraud, since the account holder provided permission for you to contact Argos and discuss their personal information.

However, although this is the case under law, it could still be seen by Argos as an unauthorized access which extends to the associated application. This is because presenting yourself as the account holder rather than allowing them to receive permission from the account holder first, in order to speak with you, is still considered as misrepresentation.

In such a case, the most probable outcome would be that the application is declined for security reasons. That being said however, they could be completely fine about it and if nothing of the sort was raised on that phone call, it is unlikely to become an issue.

Summary: You cannot be arrested for fraud. Worst case scenario is that the application is refused, but even this is unlikely.

P.S If Argos get a whiff that you are using someone else's details in order to obtain credit from them and become the sole user of that account, then they may refuse on such grounds. Do not tell them this but do not lie if asked.
