Hi calcotti, thanks for working out my entitlement, after the savings deductions but is the transitional top up of £6 not deducted as well?

Hi calcotti, thanks for you help. I have replied with just a few clarifications needed.
  • Hello, I recently got a esa3 reminder letter and it asks if I had more than £5,500 savings at any time. We have worked out my entitlement to any ir ESA top up was around £2 PW, based on my having some savings above the £6,000 limkt and that at the moment I receive a transitional top up of £6 PW.

Has the savings level been lowered now and does this then cancel out the £2 ir ESA top up and make it not worth filling the form in at all?

The capital rules are unchanged. Over £16,000 you cannot receive any income based ESA. Anything below £6,000 is ignited. Between £6,000 and £16,000 there is a deduction of £1/week for each £250 or part thereof.

Hi, I'm just about to send off the esa3 form but im just a bit confused on some of the tick boxes and think I've ticked the wrong ones so if anyone could help I'd appreciate it.

    Q. P7 = has anyone cared for you since the date we've put on the form and what is their name and address? - I live with relatives in their home and they help care for me as well as other family members and friends so what or who do I put down?

    Q. P11. = have you ever had a statutory payment in the past? I don't remember if I ever got statutory sick pay in the past or not as it was a long time ago so unsure how to answeranswer this..

    Q. P16 = where you live section.
Have you lived with parents, relatives etc since date of form. - I ticked yes.

Do the other questions in this section not apply to me even though I share the bills with relatives?, I.e.

    - have you shared the rent or mortgage for the place where you live with anyone else since date of form?

    - have you paid a private landlord, or housing association for the place where you live since date of form?

    Thanks.

Put down the relatives you live with. You can add a note about others in the additional information bit if you wish. If anybody is paid Carer’s Allowance for looking after you they should be put down first.

Put exactly that. I can’t remember. If relevant you can add “if so it was before xxxx which was when I was last employed”.

    Seems correct.

Sounds as if they do not apply.

    Thanks calcotti,

Have you ever claimed carers allowance. I ticked No.
Has anyone ever cared for you since date of form,& what's their name and address. - ?
Do they get carers allowance for caring for you. - i ticked No because they are not entitled to it

Do I still put there names down even though they do not claim carers allowance as they are not entitled to it.?

Also on the esa3 form it asks about savings in bank and building societies, and a box for the amount of savings.

Do I put my current savings as at Jan 2020 (this is lower now due to Xmas and birthdays) or do I put the amount it was when the form was received in nov 2019?. Or is it something else?

    Thanks.
