O2 to Giffgaff porting error
Beware taking your old phone number with you to Giffgaff, I went for two and a half weeks without a phone number due to a porting error and Giffgaff want to give me £12 in compensation, this doesn’t come near the disruption I experienced.
O2 were easy to get hold of when I wanted to check things with them, it turns out the error may have happened with the porting file transfer, O2 had resent the files within 12 hours of the request but the saga continued once back with Giffgaff!
I really thought I’d never get my long standing number back and couldn’t make internet banking payments. The customer service was shocking once I could actually get a response from them, I really felt isolated and ignored.
I wonder how many other people have had similar experiences with Giffgaff?

I had no trouble at all switching in and back out again a year or two later. That said Giffgaff is cheap for a reason so expecting O2 levels of CS is unrealistic.0 -
Thanks Colin_Maybe, with hindsight I agree but I wasn't expecting to be out of service for so long and not be able to get hold of a rep for over a week.0
