Please complain to the DVLA, local council, ICO, and the local paper/TV.

It will take very little of your time and will help us and others enormously, less time than it woulf have for you to fight it if they had refused to cancel.

Even if you don't want to earn yourself £500 from this, others may want to, and it may stop other victims being scammed as well.

A for profit business was being run on a public road, personal data was being harvested which is a breach of the scammers KADOE contract with the DVLA, a DPA/GDPR breach, and the goddess knows how many victims will pay up because they don't know any better.

If nothing else, please tell us the location of this trap as others may come here asking for help.

You can do so much good by a simple complaint and it really won't take you long. Write it once and send it to all the entities suggested above.

Really? These are greedy scammers that won't even let a genuine disabled person off a charge if their blue badge falls down.

I hope you remember your benevolent view of them if you ever get into a tangle with them in the future.

I appreciate the strength of feeling against these companies and don't doubt it is deserved. However, I have other things going on in my life that take precedence. I don't plan to explain what those things are but please - don't assume everyone has the strength, time or will to take on these companies. I have accepted an apologie from them and that's where I intend to leave it.

Thank you for the input previously - I can see from other threads that the regulars on this board make a huge difference helping those caught up in the 'surveillance' culture we all live in. However - it could also be noted that it was the general motoring public who were (in this particular case) trying to evade legal defense of private property (and doing quite a bit of damage in the process) that caused the problem in the first place - not the parking company.

it could also be noted that it was the general motoring public … that caused the problem in the first place

I disagree, I have travelled to many countries, and lived for over half my life in some of them. Nowhere else does this scam flourish as here
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

If you want to dish out sympathy, then do so for the owner of the property being damaged, NOT with CEL who are just there to make money, often by unethical means.

Please just spend a moment - less time than you did writing you last post here - in doing as Coupon Mad suggested in post #20: complaint to ICO and DVLA. That's all, just an email and then get back to your life.
