cashplus asking for payment on closed acc

Hi,

Need some advice please.

I received a letter from Cashplus regarding a missed payment back in 2016. According to the letter they required to send 'Notice of Sums in Arrears'. The account itself went into default but has been settled and closed in 2017.

I rang the helpline and they asked me the current balance?? Surely they're able to see the account has been closed? I don't remember the account details anymore and they went on you failed security check and refused to discuss the account further.

The advisor suggest I email the Cashplus team regarding my situation.

I'm not sure what to explain to them? I assumed as the account has been settled and closed I can disregard this letter?
It's showing as closed account on my credit file.

Please advise.

Many thanks.

What sort of account are we talking about. How can a prepaid card go into default?

I see. You accepted and used their expensive overdraft facility.
What is the nature of this 'missed payment'. Not sure how you can miss a payment on an overdraft or current account.
If the account was defaulted, settled and is now closed I would have thought that was that. They can't come asking for more money post default and settlement

    Thanks for the reply.

That's why I'm not sure what's the purpose of this letter. It's also strange that they send it 2 years after the account was closed.

I guess it's a FYI (For Your Information) type of thing, possibly linked to regulatory requirements.

    Clerical error?
  • Yes I received a letter in the post today for the Cash Plus Credit Card, it basically says that in 2017 they should have sent me a notice of default charges for a missed payment however they didn't and that they have no enclosed it 2 years later.

that could be grounds for removal of the default if you have one or late missed payment markers

It's not. Default notices are not required to register a default with the CRAs.
