... I won't have any phone calls , texts , letters or emails from EDF bullying me into having a smart meter . Even when I block their no. On my mobile I still get calls and texts . They are treating me in a stalker like fashion when eventually I will be frightened to go out to the shops
Okay, I made the last sentence up, but you get the picture .
I also forgot to mention live chat when, after they help me with an issue they ask about a smart meter .
I am tied into their blue plus tariff until the spring . I don't want to change supplier really , and if I do I'll probably get all this harassment with another supplier .
Yes , I know eventually we will have to have them compulsory. I also know what Martin said about the companies being fined about not pushing enough into our homes . I understand all of that, but want to wait until all of the teething troubles are ironed out and that it works as it should for the majority.
Are there any suppliers that don't intimidate their customers ?

I've never been pestered by Avro, Yorkshire Energy, Flow, Daligas or any of the others. I did once get a letter from Siemens but I told them I wasn't interested and they've left me alone ever since.0

I was on Facebook last night , and came across an advert from EDF
I put a comment in more or less word for word the same as this .
I received a reply for me to pm the person who responded to my comments and he will take me off of the smart list as he calls it .
As I don't use Facebook that often, I'll look into how to p m him
Doesn't do any harm in the meantime to let my comment be up there warning other customers0 -
I told BG that I was a meter reader and I didn't want to lose my job. they took me off the list and I've never had a word about smart meters sinceThe best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.0

I always find it funny how companies offering a smart meter are described as "bullying" and "intimidating". If you think that's bullying and intimidating I have no idea how you function normally in the real world :rotfl:0

I could have worded things differently , such as peed off etc but admin would have removed it , so I used the standard jargon that is used in the press.
I have loads of experience of the real world , don't you worry
When things are described in forums it can come across the wrong way as you are not talking face to face with someone .
I'll leave it there..

I never had a problem with Edf. They asked, I said no, I ensured my communication preferences were set to "leave me alone." Certainly didn't get texts or phone calls from them. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

I complained to them on the phone , after the second time of asking .
I blocked their emails by unsubscribing . I blocked their no on my mobile phone , yet they still persist via landline , phoning up my mobile , and even when dealing with them on live chat .
It's always at the wrong time ( obviously ) .
Glad you don't get the hassle I've been having . It looks like the Facebook angle will finally put a stop to it .
Glad you haven't this issue0 -

I know the admin on this site are strict but even if you said you were !!!!ed off with them contacting you I doubt they would have removed your post.
Yes forum conversations do come across the wrong way but using words such as "bullying" and "intimidating" it is quite clear you feel threatened by them otherwise you would have chosen different words such as "annoying" or "aggravating".
So feeling threatened by an energy company is asking you to have a smart meter is quite amusing, unless ofcourse you have a mental health condition but I'm assuming you don't.0 -

I do not feel threatened by them . Have you got a mental health condition ? I haven't . You are correct there. However , you have no right in telling me what words I can or can't use .
I don't find you amusing , although you find them pestering me on multiple occasions amusing . In fact you are the first person that resembles a troll on this forum that I have had the unpleasant experience of having a conversation with . When something annoys you and the shoe is on the other foot , I hope you have untold misery .
When I started this thread , it was with irony and good humour.
Something you seem to be lacking .
I was being polite to you when you were having a dig at me above , but you think above me in stature when you really are at the sole of my shoe .
You can keep replying , escalating unnecessary tension . Or you could leave this thread .
I have got my point across anyway .
Maybe you will get others to side up with you .
We'll see .
In the meantime I do not wish you any good fortune whatsoever .0 -

So your saying your original post was meant to be humourous but when I post saying I found your choice of words funny that has somehow got your back up :rotfl:. Surely someone finding your humourous post funny is the exact reaction you would expect ?.
If you get this wound up by two posts by an anonymous poster I'm not surprised your overreacting about being offered a smart meter.
I still maintain that it is ridiculous to accuse them of bullying and intimidation and if you post something like that on a discussion forum you need to be prepared for a discussion where not everyone will agree with you.
For your information a troll is someone who posts online to purposely upset people. My aim is not to upset you I was simply showing you how ridiculous it is to use words like "bullying" and "intimidation" when it is nothing of the sort.
I don't agree with those words being used so flippantly when bullying and intimidation are serious things that do not apply in your situation.0
