School did not inform me of my child having a cold press on eye

Got back home today and my son told me he had a cold press on his eye. It looks very very slightly different to the other eye, it may or may not have been after school club.
Now I know things happen at school, but is there a policy of schools having to inform parents? Are the obliged to or is it discretionary?
I'm not the person to go and waste school resources and time and expect paperwork, but I feel its a minimum duty of care that they should have told me.

Have you searched his bag?
I found an injury form for my DS today which he forgot to mention, although he is Y4.
If it is bothering him just mention it tomorrow and ask his teacher what happened.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
What’s a cold press? A compress? Ice?
Just ask tomorrow, as long as he seems fine tonight.0 -
What does your child say happened to require this 'cold press'? Ask the teacher or after school club about it, either way.
I know that at my kids' school, most 'injuries' are treated with a wet tissue! Most parents probably know the type of injury, the ones where the child wants you to do something but it was a tiny graze or bump or the child poked him/herself in the eye with their own finger. That kind of thing wouldn't get a slip home and I wouldn't expect it - they'd waste a forest a day if they did!0 -
In my day we just got sent to the office for a lie down. Nothing more was said.0

It was on his eye, so for me thats serious. I don't expect a note I just wanted to know what happened and nothing was said. They are chasing it upIn my day we just got sent to the office for a lie down. Nothing more was said.

Uh, why? It might have been a speck of dust!0 -
Ah the old wet bit of blue paper which healed every injury known to child!!0

Well i suppose these days the cold compress would need to be fair trade, plus a gender neutral colour so it doesn't stereotype your child, only contain the words 'them' or 'they' on the packaging, come from a sustainable source that doesn't use fossil fuels, must be clearly labeled that it may contain traces of nuts etc etc etc0
