I bought a tv from argos less than a year ago however it is shocking, it doesn't turn on half the time, the sound sometimes doesn't work its a panasonic so i assumed it would be good!
I cannot however find the receipt for it do i have any chance of returning /exchanging it without proof of purchase? or do i just give up an buy a new one?

There's an outside chance they might accept a credit card/bank statement if it was the only thing you bought (so the amount stacks up) but it's a very long shot.0

How did you pay for it? Did you register the warranty online?0

They do, well at least my local store does, accept it if you can find the transaction on your bank statement. I had an issue with a hoover & like you I couldn't find my receipt but I showed them my bank statement & they sorted it for me.0

Did you register a warranty with Panasonic? If it was possible at the time then it's always the best idea to register direct with the manufacture as you are a least covered for the length of the warranty.
You are at the mercy of Argos without POP as for all they know you could have picked it up at the local recycling centre. Just giving you the way they could see it.0 -

The law (somewhat) disagrees with you ... a consumer only needs to provide evidence of purchase, they don't have to provide said evidence by way of a receipt. I'm sure guidance notes for the CRA 2015 also make this point, and specifically mention use of a bank or credit card statement.0 -
I have found the credit card statement for the transaction and also the argos reservation email I will try giving them a call0

Even with proof of purchase the onus is in you to show it is an inherent fault as it is now more than 6 months old.0

yes i have contacted the panasonic team as advised by argos it is still under 12 month warranty so they are going to repair it even though I a generally not happy with the tv and would prefer a refund but a repair is better than nothing0

Indeed, there's nothing in law specifying a minimum standard of evidence required, ultimately it would be decided on the balance of probabilities by a court - which could come down to who had the most convincing-sounding witnesses.0 -
ok so argos said to contact panasonic who then gave me number for repair place.
Repair place won't repair without receipt - said credit card statement isn't enough argos said ask panasonic for reference number in order to be able to exchange tv in store.
Panasonic won't reference code and said argos should deal with this as they are the seller
Argos said take it to store and they will see what they can do
surely something can be done it is only 6 months since i bought it i can't understand why Argos cannot just replace / exchange it0
