Advent Bumping

Chyna-s

May I please beg people to stop bumping advents with superfluous bumps re. well dones or duplicating comments. If a post does not open, just bookmark it and go back later.
I appreciate people want to comment but because people subscribe to posts, each comment produces an extra email and just adds to the hundreds already arriving. :T:T:T

I've not come across many unnecessary bumps, but i've bookmarked mine and enter other comps from main board by start time so probably just haven't noticed.
i've just finished entering all the advents I want to.... then I remembered it all starts again tomorrow!!! gotta love December xxThanks to everyone that posts :T:money:

I feel your pain I still have therapy for the great Pringels advent debacle. However painful experience has taught me that pleading for people not to bump advents falls on deaf ears.
Can I suggest that you do not subscribe to any advent thread and set up a book mark folder for those you wish to enter regularly?Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.
Virtuous action, now, at this very moment.
(Wisdom, Courage, Self-control, Justice)
Willing acceptance - now, at this very moment - of what you can’t change0 -
I have to admit that I don't subscribe to any threads at this time of year 'cos it would drive me crackers.
I think we have all had enough of daft emithers because of this Black Friday/Cyber Monday cobblers.
This is a rather trying time of year for a comper, it's hard enough trying to keep sane when it comes to keeping up with everything. We don't want to get even more wound up with people coming on bumping a thread up just for the sake of saying 'well done'.
Use the noodle please folks.
Or I'll ask the owner of 'Stick Man*' to set him on ya. :rotfl: (If I can remember who it is)
*I miss Stick Man. And that thread that used to moan about the same people winning, and the sob stories that cropped up.
Advent Month really isn't the same now:rotfl:

I think all posts like the 'In the night garden' or 'Brioche Pasquier' where there are lots of prizes given out and lots of winners, then there should be there own post in 'I won! I won! I won!' so it doesn't clog up the IWIWIW section or the forum threads.Thank you to everyone who posts competitions and good luck to everyone who enters.0

I find this forum becomes unusable during December cause the pages are flooded with Advent threads where we don't know the prize, or in many cases even if there is a prize. The rest of the year it's strictly the end date and prize in the thread title but in December that goes out the window and we ave to click in every one and find the latest relevant post (made more difficult by bumping), which is particularly difficult for those who can't dedicate hours of their time here.
Wouldn't it be better to have an advent sub forum, similar to the Puzzler comps? And leave the main forum for its intended use?2015 Wins: Nowt
2016 Wins: Nowt...again
2017 Wins: £50....HALLELUJAH
2018 Wins: 2 Tickets for Doncaster Rovers :rotfl:
2019 Wins: Nowt again (I must be doing something wrong)
2020 Wins: Absolute Radio (Baked beans, Clubcard plus membership, bags of crisps, Google nest and an Ipad Pro)0 -

The main forum is for competitions and Advents would fall within the remit of its intended use - there is no sub forum for puzzler comps just one thread as they are all from the same site and it was moved simply to stop it continually ending up in game over.
One way to enter the advents is bookmark the sites direct and visit them daily - if its a prize you don't want then just move on and if you do want it you are already there to enter so that is quicker than bookmarking the threads on MSE.
If you change the display options on the forum to "Sorted By - Thread Start Time" bumped posts are not an issue0 -
There's too many to check them all every day, for me anyway, obviously people with more time it's OK. If i could just search the forum for all posts starting "E: " that would do me , but the search function isn't robust enough.
It's just a personal gripe, majority rules and it seems to be working for them2015 Wins: Nowt
