OK I have now got through to internet banking on my desktop and maybe my OP was a little hasty.
Once I found out what I was doing wrong the new system does seem slicker although I know of at least two banking apps that allow you to set up DD's and SO's without having to use a desktop.
I have not used it yet but the 'Schedule Future Transaction' on the app for sending money to previous payees could take the place of SO's but I am not sure.0 -
Hi guys, I was having the same problem yesterday and read this thread. There was no option to generate a security code ANYWHERE.
Got on with M&S chat this morning and they informed me that the option to generate a security code is on the LOGIN screen. My prompt for Touch ID was in the way so I couldn't see it. I just kept logging in and getting frustrated that the option wasn't there. (I'm on an iPhone SE by the way)
So, if you can't see the option to generate the code, when prompted to log in - don't. Look towards the bottom of your screen and you'll see it there.
Hope that helps!0 -
Check in your appstore whether you can "Update" your app. It appears that, for some odd reason, the latest version does not install automatically. Mind you, I don't know what an iPhone SE is - it might not be one of the supported models.
Once successfully installed, you then have to verify it's you who uses the app. For this, I needed my userid and password on the iPad, and for the iPhone, my userid and a 1-off code sent by text to my registered mobile. You then have to set a 6-digit Digital Pass Code, and you are properly set up with the Digital Secure Key. Easy & quick to do if you know what you need to do!
Sure, we all received that hideous gadget, and it can still be used for logging in to online banking. Personally, I much prefer the digital secure key. I'll keep the hideous gadget in reserve, though
Thanks colsten I’ll sort it when I’m back in UK.
FYI iPhone SE is the diminutive version of the 6, released 2016 Suits my small hands, but sadly will need to be replaced in the next year or so.0 -

Thanks I am glad it wasn't only me:rotfl:0 -
I'm having the same issues with logging in. I updated the app, but the desktop website will accept neither a security code generated by the app, nor a security code generated by the physical M&S pass. Getting quite fed up with M&S and how difficult it is to access and manage so I think I will close all my accounts. The 2.75% isn't really worth sticking around for.

I used the M&S app to generate a security code to access the website. The app stopped working, because my mobile phone number wasn't registered. I called them up, gave them the phone number, but apparently it takes a WEEK for the app to be updated. How rubbish is that?

I find the app is fine except the weird bit where you have to cancel the fingerprint to get the security code if you want to login via the website. The app stopped working, because my mobile phone number wasn't registered. You cannot blame them for you causing this.
