M&S Bank Digital Banking

Does anyone else think their new system is rubbish?
I set up the new app a couple of days ago and had to give them about six more pieces of information that I might never need.
Anyway the fingerprint access now works well so everything is great until you want to add a direct debit or standing order which only can be done through internet banking.
So I go to my desktop and sign in with my username and am then met with:
'We are enhancing our security and your sign in details are changing
******
You will need to generate a security code each time you sign in to Internet Banking, using your physical or digital M&S PASS. '
So you then have to go to the app to generate a security code.
I have now given up for the day but if anyone has got an easy way of sorting this out I would be very grateful.

Are you saying you are now unable to log in to online banking?
I can't see anything new in the app - looks like it's looked for ages. Mine's the latest iOS version. I also can't see anything about a digital secure code in the app. Can't you log in with the physical secure key?0 -

I can sign into online banking via the new app and see my account details and transactions. Because the app cannot handle the set up of of standing orders and a few other things you have to do them via a desktop and I cannot figure out how to do it.I will read through this and try again tomorrow https://bank.marksandspencer.com/digital-changes/0 -
I dont have m&s banking but it sounds like to log onto desktop banking you will need to generate a security number using either a physical key thingy (which i assume you have not got) or using the app - look for an item called 'generate security codes' or similar - there will be codes for logon and codes for when you do transactions.
generate a logon code from the app and enter it into the desktop system when prompted..0 -

The M&S app for iOS is a mess. I have version 3.2.5 installed on both, my iPhone XS Max and iPad Pro. Both devices are latest hardware and latest iOS levels. 3.2.5 does NOT have the digital secure key
On the Apple Appstore, there is a version 3.17.1. Which apparently does have the digital secure key......
EDIT: I have now uninstalled and re-installed the app on both my devices. It does not tell me anywhere any longer what version I have installed but I do now have the version that can generate digital secure key. Logging into online banking is easier now - all you need is your userid and a secure key, which you can now generate in the app. If you are nostalgic, you can still use the physical secure key, too.
@Joe9090, I suggest you try the same. Good luck!0 -
I tried to access the app a couple of days ago but instead of being able to log in by fingerprint, like OP, I was greeted by demands for multiple bits of info. I’m currently in Hong Kong, without the detested secure key, & using tiny iPhone SE screen, so I gave up.
I’m sure my monthly saver funding will have worked like clockwork, but sympathise with those using M&S for ‘real’ banking:(0 -
I'm on android, I have a secure pass key generator (it's like a little calculator) I got this when I opened the account, it generates a new number everytime i need to logon via a laptop.0

Once successfully installed, you then have to verify it's you who uses the app. For this, I needed my userid and password on the iPad, and for the iPhone, my userid and a 1-off code sent by text to my registered mobile. You then have to set a 6-digit Digital Pass Code, and you are properly set up with the Digital Secure Key. Easy & quick to do if you know what you need to do!I'm on android, I have a secure pass key generator (it's like a little calculator) I got this when I opened the account, it generates a new number everytime i need to logon via a laptop.0 -
Just to prove I haven't made this up. They really did release V3.17.1 after they released 3.2.5.

Why would you make it up? 17 is a larger number than 2.
Are you assuming it's a decimal number? It seems unlikely as there are two decimal points.Does anyone else think their new system is rubbish?
No, both the app & the web page is easier to login than before.
The app used to require you to enter random digits from your password, the web page used to require username, memorable place and a code from the secure device after entering your 4 digit pin.
Now you just enter a 6 digit pin into the app, the web needs username and code from the app after entering your 6 digit pin, or secure device after entering 4 digit pin. The advantage of using the app is I don't need to dig out the secure device anymore.
I think HSBC supported using the app to generate codes about 5 years ago, so it's about time.0
