Early Years Funding and Bank Holidays

Does anyone know the answer to the following.

My daughter attends a nursery Monday - Thursday having asked they told me that their database applies the funding from Monday through to Friday rather than spread evenly over the week which means that her funding is applied on Bank Holiday Mondays when the nursery is closed as per most businesses. This also means that her funding is also being used on Christmas Day this year as its a Wednesday. I am being charged for both Christmas Day and Boxing Day which is fair enough as I knew this when she started but can they use her funding on days when they are closed like this?

To my knowledge the funding is paid term-time only unless you have opted for the 'stretched' option of using the funding all year. I assume you are entitled to the extended hours giving a total of 30 hours each week tto - 1140 hours per year. This works out to approx. 22 hours each week. The funding should be applied to the first 22 hours of your daughters care each week although only a maximum of 10 hours funding can be applied a day. For instance if you have 22 hours each week and her nursery is open 11 hours per day you would pay for 1 hour each Monday and Tuesday and 9 hours on a Wednesday and the full cost on a Thursday.

Surely if they are using the funded hours you are not paying as much out of your own pocket?

    Hope that helps
