Oven repair question
Comments
-
Had the same problem with my fan oven where the element fixings had corroded on the oven back plate. I made a tin plate to fit over the original fixings, drilled a big hole to allow the electrical connections to go through then two smaller holes for self tappers to enable the element to fasten down. The plate was then drilled again with two holes so it could be fastened onto the uncorroded oven backplate, drilling two smaller holes for another two self tappers. As the fan will still be in place you can make sure the element is fixed in the correct position when fitting the metal plate.
Ps make sure there's nothing behind the backplate except insulation before drilling.0 -
Does this look like a safe/legit connection? Would an electrician need to gain access to the actual socket (presumably behind the next cupboard unit) if I do end up needing to replace this oven?
An electrician will turn it off at the consumer unit.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0
