This morning the waitng game got the better of me.
I made a final OP of £4700. This means I am mortgage free (aside from a few quid interest which will be added at the end of the month for 23 days)
This is 4 yrs 2 months early
Thank you Julicorn for running the thread and keeping us all accountable with the spreadsheet.
Big cheer to everyone who is doing what they can in these uncertain times - keep at it. It will be worth it ;)

Congratulations! I can't wait to be in your position, but as it is we've just got into the 250's today. I miss that old blue screaming face...

Anyway, #86 here with another £400 for April. I think that makes me about £50 short of my target for this year. My target was based on, with our regular payments, reaching 80% LTV for remortgage in October. Whilst I don't have a crystal ball I expect we'll need to overpay more than that now so I'll definitely be paying more. I have no idea if making 80% will even be achievable. I think we could probably do 12k at a push. Maybe it is worth a shot after all.
    Finally bought a home
    Starting mortgage £289,500 31.01.19 - Current outstanding £192,586.98/CENTER]
    Overpayments since 27.03.19: £52,407.47
  • Hi,
I’ve put another £10 overpayment on so total of £71.58 for April #82. Struggling a bit with lock down now and chipping away at mortgage (albeit super slowly) is cheering me up.
    Thanks,
    Bb
    Jan 2019: £211,500
    September 2020: £197,600

Sorry for the absence here - I've been struggling mentally with the virus stuff and being furloughed (and thus losing some income) - with longer term worries about the safety of my job, being in an industry that is being and will continue to be hit hard by the virus.  We've not made any further overpayments and indeed we're now in a mortgage holiday - we're still budgeting to pay the usual payments and overpayments, but even if we pay them off at the end of the holiday a part of the usual overpayments will just become part of the payments  :(

Let's hope this thing is as short-lived as possible; the uncertainty is really hard!

I have just discovered this thread.  I am newly semi-retired and a newbie in the MSE forums.  I am reviewing my finances and am thinking about paying down my mortgage.  Am I too late to join the MFWs for 2020?  I am only going to be able to make modest overpayments but could aim to get the mortgage below 6 figures by 31.12.
