BT Move Address

I am about to move home. I had read that I could move with BT,keep the same package terms and conditions etc. Did it all on line earlier this afternoon. All went fine £0.00 costs to pay,or so I thought.
I later received my email, and they are charging me nearly 3 times more than I am currently paying. I was paying £25.99 and now they say the cost is £68.99.
For some reason my discounts have not been pulled across and they have put me on a new contract. I recently negotiated a new contract back in July.
I telephoned and was on hold for ages and eventually told a special team would contact me in three days to fix it.
Past experiences with BT tell me that when there is a problem it is very hard to get it rectified.

Since there doesn't appear to be an actual question here do let us know what they say when they phone back in a couple of days or so.0 -
You will start a new contract if moving .0

You will start a new contract if moving .
Don't think you do with BT, as long as there is an active line then there is no additional cost.
Edit: actually as long as you're not within the last 3 months there's no need for a new contract, https://www.broadbandchoices.co.uk/guides/broadband/broadband-moving-house0 -
Hi just an update on this one folk as expected it took several phone calls to get this fixed.
They did put me on a new contract, although they shouldn't have as it was only renewed a few months earlier.
So on a new 24 month contract with index rises once a year.
Her is a new question though, will the rise ,2% or whatever be on the full list price, or the agreed amount I am paying in my contract,i.e 2% of £68.99 is a lot mor than 2% of £25.99?0 -
if you believe you shouldn't have been put on a new contract then I would suggest you email the CEO of BT and complain and go from there, its better than ringing them as you will have a record trail of what was said and promised going forward
if as you say you shouldn't have been put on a new contract then you will have a good case of getting it sorted out by them0 -
I have managed to get the prices reduced to the old amount of £25.99, but it is a new contract. That wasn't really the big concern as it was a fairly new contract anyway. I don't see the point of dragging it further now the price has been fixed.0

It will be on the full list price, it can't be any other way to be fair.0 -
I disagree that is the fair way to do it.
If there is an inflation rise of 2% of the full list price then when I do the Maths the true rise to me on my package will work out at 5.31 % and even more next year..
Not what I beleived I signed up for.:(0 -
You should ask BT via your members help page community forum .
No idea how it will actually work as its never been used before March 2020 .0 -
I phoned BT adviser last night at first, she was saying the rise on the package price then changed it to the price before discount, and disputed she contracted herself.
Any I have posted on the BT community forum, and still to receive any replies.
I have also found this on BT's own website https://www.bt.com/help/broadband/annual-price-changes-and-cpi
This is the bit here I believe that gives the correct answer
"If you have broadband or a landline with us, the price increase to the price you pay for your plan(s), taking account of any discounts you get. So, the price you pay each month will go up by the amount in the CPI.
If you have broadband with a mobile plan (and therefore the £5 mobile discount), we’ll work out CPI in the same way - by applying CPI to the discounted monthly price you pay, whether you’re in or out of contract."
So surely reading from the BT'S own website, the rise will only be applied to the package price you pay and not the full price before any discounts.0
