Car dealer didnt take credit card payment

A few weeks ago i purchased a car at a dealer, & we agreed that i can pay a small amount on my credit card for the section 75 act. However at the time of payment their card machine wasn't working, i waited around for hours for them to get it fixed but to no avail. I had paid the rest by bank transfer already so coundnt walk away with no car, so after alot of arguing they let me take the car, minus the very small amount to pay, as they said they will call me as soon as its working to make the payment.
They didnt call. So I rang them the next few days chasing them, they said they needed a new sim to be posted. Gave them 5 days still no call. I was passing the dealer so i popped in to pay still not working they said. ( I live over 100miles from dealer). I have called them again & they saying that someone has closed the sale, & i cant make the payment now.. Any ideas what i can do now??

Pay when you go to pick up the car but only take credit cards?
If they accept it can't see it being a problem otherwise get a refund of your money and look elsewhere.May you find your sister soon Helli.

Strange, but I remember this story in the CC section.

All the answers there. If they don't want to take a CC they don't have too.Life in the slow lane0 -
I would leave it for now, you've done as much as you can at this moment in time. They will, at some point, realise they haven't taken the payment from you and will contact you. They have up to 6 years.
(OP already has the car, he paid by bank transfer, he has a small outstanding balance)Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
If it is a really small amount the seller may not bother to try and collect...and that may lead to problems if a s75 claim is required.0

But before the contract had been entered into, the dealer agreed to accept part of the payment by credit card so that agreement will form one of the terms of the contract.
Proving that they agreed to it and enforcing it however are different matters.0 -
OP
I think you've done as much as you can reasonably expected to do.
When the accounts dept realises what's happened and contacts you for payment just pay it without any fuss.0 -
What was the amount? If it was really low like £10 then unfortunately that was probably a mistake. It sounds like they have just discounted the sale by this much and closed it.
Probably should have chosen an amount like £200.0 -
Agreeing to pay just a very small amount is the problem. They simply laughed at the amount you offered and played you.0

I think you're missing the point here. OP wants to pay the £75 by credit card for S75 protection. The garage doesn't want to take the payment so there is no S75 comeback. They have no intention of persuing the money.0 -

I don't think that is what's behind it, although I concede that it is possible. It may well be that the business has a standard process to not accept CC payments due to the higher charges applied. However they should have made this clear to the OP rather than using weasel words.0
