people have even asked me "if i have kids will my premium go down" it's not a rated factor.
So then why do they ask the question if it makes no difference to the premium?.
This also could be considered a breach of GDPR by collecting this data if there is no need for them too.0 -
Come the next shop-around, I'll declare all my hulking great louts have left home. If that means the insurance bill drops, I'll chivvy them into making it fact & see my heating, laundry & food bills drop as well...0

Also seriously injuring children leads to very large claims.0

Can you speak for all insurers?Jasonh2015 wrote: »About 15 years of being a car insurance underwriter

Aren't their underwriting criteria commercially sensitive and therefore secret?
Also, Admiral group clearly used to use factors (courses) which the others didn't.0 -
Parents seem very worried when "baby" arrives so often buy a vast car to protect it. I'm not sure prioritising yourself over everyone is is considered better driving. Wanting to be a better driver doesn't mean you will not be distracted by children in a car. From experience it doesn't take long before getting somewhere quicker take priority over the the bored, noisy kids in the car.Jasonh2015 wrote: »This is a myth. Insurers do not rate on whether you have have children or not.
If anything it would make it better as you wouldn't want anything to happen to them while you're driving.0 -
Distraction factor and also potentially more people/ car seats in the car to pay out for. Same as a 7 seater car is normally higher for insurance/courtesy car and breakdown cover than a 5 seater as theres more bums on seats.Jan 18 Joint debts 35,213
Mortgage Jan 18- 77224 Jan 26- just under 64k
June 25 Debts in my name were £5170. Now 5398 (Jan 26)0 -

Ha ha, commercially sensitive information would be loading factors for say claims and convictions. If you asked any underwriter if they load a premium for children they would mostly likely laugh.
What an insurer will do as someone has said is rate differently from a 5 seats to a 7 seat vehicle, more people, more potential for a big PI claim.0 -
How could you possibly know if all the insurance insurance companies do or does not do this?Jasonh2015 wrote: »This is a myth. Insurers do not rate on whether you have have children or not.
.
The simple answer is you can't and you have made this up
Your underwriter does not know what other underwriters do either
You seem to be calling the OP a liar0 -
Further - as already asked - why do they ask the question if they don't use the info? And if they don't, aren't there data protection problems?Jumblebumble wrote: »How could you possibly know if all the insurance insurance companies do or does not do this?
