Labour's Manifesto - The Nordic Model.

Options
The Labour manifesto is very similar to the Nordic model style politics in Scandinavia.

Problem is the income tax rate is 55% for everybody.

Although Denmark has many benefits.

It has their own NHS, which is run a lot better.
They have FREE university tuition fees
Poverty is non existant.
low crime rate

They also have a very tight immigration system

I personally think Socialism can work, but not in highly populated countries like our own.

A lot of people do like Labour's policies, but are not willing to pay for them.

Would you be willing to pay 55% income tax but all services are world class and homelessness is eradicated?

    Far too simplistic.............

Sweden's official statistics often fail to reflect reality.

Sweden has a population of less than London so what on earth are they wasting all the tax they collect on? With a population that size the tax rates should be about 10%

Sweden continued to build Volvo and Saab cars.

"Continued" - past tense of course because Saab cars are no longer.
After being fully-owned by GM in 2000 they struggled, being sold again to Spyker in 2010 and then (as we know) filing for bankruptcy the following year.
Which leaves Volvo who are of course owned by the Chinese company Geely.

The OP says Denmark has no poverty.
Sorry but that is very far from the truth.
both inequality and poverty have increased, and within the last couple of years, child poverty has increased dramatically – from 42,500 poor children in 2016 to 64,500 in 2017.

It looks like paying high rates of tax doesn't vanquish poverty even in the smaller Nordic countries.

I was in Norway for a few weeks last year there were definitely homeless and people looking for stuff in public bins

Also the reason Norway and Sweden can do socialism more than the UK is they are blessed with natural resources.

If the UK had 10x the oil and gas output we would still have less than Norway per capita
Not forgetting their huge absolutely huge hydropower resources (per capita) and more land etc

Norway is like the kid that inherited £5 million and is able to buy nicer !!!! for the family

Great if your idea is to somehow magic up massive oil and gas and hydropower deposits in all for ot

Should we pray to God or the simulation programmers?

Should you need further proof how was it in Norway ore 1960 before the oil? A bit !!!!

    Yes. Without question.

Homelessness is due to addictions and dysfunctional lives not about taxes

Some guy last year died He was worth about £50million but had taken to living in squalor in his car unwashed and on drugs

The functional homeless get rehoused very quickly
The dysfunctional either prefer it or get housed then go back on the streets get housed again and go back on the streets over and over

Just out them in jail. Problem solved
There they can be proceed the functional ones get rehoused and continue with a normal life
The dysfunctional ones can live in prisons on and off

Might sound !!!! but nothing works
Just like a women I know who has an alcoholic husband
With all the will in the world she barely keeps him off the streets
And suffers at his hands tremendously

Right left high tax low tax it won't matter much some people are dysfunctional and always will be
Fortunately there isn't many of them something like 4,000 rough sleepers in a population of 70 million so about 1 in 20,000 people are homeless. Is it hard to believe 1 in 20,000 people have problems which are difficult/impossible to fix

Homeless isn't a functional person that just lost their job
There are some of those but they get sorted out quickly

    False.

The Labour manifesto calls for a similar amount of spending as a % of GDP to Germany, and a fair bit less than the Scandinavian countries.
Problem is the income tax rate is 55% for everybody.

    No it isn't.
They also have a very tight immigration system

    No tighter than ours.
