I hope Uber beat this. Out west we don’t have Uber yet, so have to queue for a scruffy taxi after a night out. Bring on Uber, so I can book in the bar @nd have my lift waiting outside. Get used to it cabbie#, you’re finished.0

Ive had plenty of black cabs refuse a journey. If they ain't going tha Y way then they won't take you. Never heard the saying "Don't go south of the river at this time of night"?
Ive never had that happen, they know where you are going when you book so they do not need to ask you. So im inclined not to believe that does happen.
The driver does not find out your destination until they have picked you up, hence why some of the unscrupulous ones will message you via the app to find out beforehand.
Believe what you like.0 -

I’ve never come across this as a fairly regular uber user ever since it launched in the UK. I’ve had some less than great rides with uber but that’s the same for black cabs and normal private hire taxis too. I think there are a number of substandard and dodgy people working in the taxi trade and they aren’t unique to any particular operator.0 -
I am a Londoner and let me tell you this is nothing more then black cab drivers with the hump that a better and cheaper service is available then them and they are losing money.
People do not want to pay the disgusting prices black cab drivers charge, nor do they wish to get into a black cab only to be told ‘I’m not going south of the river mate’ (believe me they do say this very very often, usually on Friday and Saturday nights)
Also all this talk about ‘The Knowledge’ makes me cringe... It is 2019, we have sat navs, move with the times.0 -
That's just made up, they've never messaged me either.I’ve never come across this as a fairly regular uber user ever since it launched in the UK. This might not happen it big areas like London but here there are not many Ubers around and yes, some drivers will message you as they don't want low value fares.0
