Is this tiling as bad as i think?

It's not irrelevant as to how I deal with this. I'd like to avoid an argument as their building work has been good and there's still a bit to do. I'd like to just give a clear and sober rationale as to why the tiling is poor and I was concerned that i was being fussy as my own tiling would have been better (though it would have taken me longer).
I expect putting this right at a cost of £500 in tiles, then adhesive, grout, cement board, trim, making good the ceiling & walls and labour is going to hit him hard in the wallet. I'm expecting excuses (tiles not of equal length has already been given) and resistance.0 -
This can be the problem when one guy (and his team) does a `one stop shop`
Its dreadful, you need to have an honest and frank discussion with builder ASAPNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -
Have they told you it has been grouted?0
-
I think I would get all the jobs completed, and then deduct the tiling cost from the final bill. I think it's pointless getting this builder to re-do it, as he obviously thinks the present job is okay.0

Did you/they specify a grout colour?
More generally, it's a basic requirement that the final result is water-tight, and any/all of the gaps in the "grout" won't be. However, that's a relatively easy fix that won't resolve the other issues.0 -
Thanks for the responses so far.
I asked for grey grout.
It's definitely grouted. That isn't the adhesive filling the gaps. And the grout is of less concern to me than the tiling itself as the grout could be done over while the tiles can't.
I won't let the same guy re-do the tiling. I'm going to ask that they get a pro tiler in to do it. They're a fair size local company with a good reputation so I'm sure they know, perhaps even employ, someone who can tile well. It seems I just didn't get that guy on this occasion.0 -
No tiler who knows what they are doing grouts internal corners.
Within weeks it will crack and fall out.0 -
No that isn't a good job by a long way and wouldn't be paying until. it has been rectified. properly0
-
BTW, if you've only just had this done, you might be able to salvage the tiles if you get them in a bucket of water asap.0

Yikes. That’s awful. Don’t use the shower as it’ll lead to water getting behind the tiles.0
