It's about par for the course for a builder. I bet there's only plasterboard behind it rather than cement board isn't there?

    That is dreadful.

Sadly, it has already been grouted.
In the pictures you've shown it is not grouted. Do you mean it has since been grouted?
  • It is grouted in the photos I've posted. It's set so deep at points and not flush or thereabouts with the tiles, that it gives the impression of not being there.

If it has been grouted, that's the worst job I've ever seen. I could do a better job than that!

The whole point of grout is to fill the gaps between the tiles and make it watertight. He might have used tile adhesive, and squished a bit through the edges, but that's not the same thing.

It's like saying you've washed the car, when all you've done is thrown a bucket of water over it!!

  • Blimey. That makes it worse. It all needs redoing.

In picture 007 it is at least 6mm below the surface of the tile. To me it looks ungrouted. There are areas where the tile adhesive is flush with the tile surface. Have you been told it has been grouted? Did you choose white grout?
  • That's the worst tiling job I've ever seen. A semi-competent DIYer could have done better! I don't think there is anything that will make it look acceptable, even if they grout it properly the misalignment, rotten spacing and chipped edges would bother me every day. It all needs ripped out and done again.
  • Thanks for the responses.
As I say, it is grouted with the grey I specified.
I'm slightly less concerned about the grout - as the builder may offer to do it again - than I am the cuts and spacing.

Whether you like the builder or not is irrelevant. The job is absolutely terrible and needs to be redone.
