  • Even if the trim is the way they do it.....they've still fitted the trim really poorly. We had this in a conservatory we inherited with our last house, it was fitted totally flush to the cill but after 10 years it was brittle and fell apart and then you're left with ratty plastic trim cracked and broken and no way of covering it as the trim is fitted under/around the cill so can't be fully removed. I wouldn't let it drop as that's still not a good installation. Have you still got some of the bill to pay? Hold it back till it's fixed.

Most of the bill is still left to pay.

I'm a fairly easy going customer. It's usually my wife who is more demanding but even by my own standards I think the trim looks awful!

  • In that case you hold all the cards.....no suitable fix, no money! You're not being unreasonable to expect the new cill to be as good as an old one, not worse.

Head Office assured me this morning via email that all issues I raised would be rectified when the fitting team arrive this morning.

Within 5 mins of the fitting team arrive at our house they tell my wife that the window sill has to stay as that's the way all duraboards are done.

    Grrrrr
Have they a showroom you can visit? Easy enough to check whether this is what they show the public, if they have.

    What about advertising brochures too?

Your problem is showing that you were misled and/or challenging the statement 'it's the way all duraboards are done.' It probably isn't.

Hopefully, someone who's a window fitter will come along soon and advise here.

Mitred joints on kitchen worktops without the use of plastic or aluminium strips are pretty standard. Duraboard is no different (apart from the thickness) - With the proper tools, it should be possible to achieve an almost seamless joint.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

Fitters have now left and within the hour they have phoned my wife asking when the balance will be paid. That's classy.

Emailed response from head office this morning confirmed issues raised by us would be rectified today but fitting team said within 5 mins of entering the house that the duraboard sill will stay as it is.
