It's a tunnel for access to the rear meaning constant cars in a out driving under your home!

and people standing smoking and chatting, setting the bins on fire, etc.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

"Non standard" really means a concrete house generally built around the war years. The problem isn't necessarily the construction but the fact that few if any banks will lend mortgages for them.

A house built in 2016 and with NHBC warranty won't have trouble getting a mortgage. Some may not like it but a majority won't have issues.

My problem with this design is an irrational fear of someone missing the brake one day and crashing through my rear wall
  • If that is supposedly freehold, then doesnt that make you responsible for the whole exterior upkeep including the other peoples car parks?

I had a house with garage underneath one of the rooms. That room was really cold.
This looks like my nightmare.....cold floors and car noises. I bet each time a car goes under or starts up in the car port you’ll hear and feel it!

Just imagine if the driver left his car running for ages in the winter to warm it up.

I live in a link detached with a bedroom and a bathroom over my own carport. These rooms were always cold as the car port acts as a wind tunnel. We have resolved the problem by installing an insulated garage door. This would not be an option with the coach house.

That's what put me off considering them. The cold room. I've heard terrible reports. I don't dislike them if they're substantial enough, but I'd never buy a house with a room above an open space.
