Emirates flight changed

Options
Hi,
I have bought tickets for my family of 5 to go back home in December. I bought the ticket in June 2019 via agent but on August Emirates emailed me that the flight from Dubai to my destination has been changed to Flydubai (which is low cost airline, I need to pay extra to use the entertainment etc on board.) When I called Emirates they suggested that I should only contact to travel agent and they only offer me refund. But I couldn’t buy another ticket with that price after 2 months of booking. We have a travel ( which expired on September), I would like to know if it’s covered anything with my flight changes. I’m looking for a new insurance too. Thanks in advance.

does the Emirates website show any other alternatives to the flydubai flight for your routing?
If yes then ask your agent to ask Emirates if they can change you to the alternate flight they offer
If no then your option is to accept the flydubai flight or accept a refund (given that this was 3 months ago...you may already be deemed to have accepted the flight)
how long is the flydubai flight? could you use iPad/tablet/books for entertainment if that is the issue?
