Aldi vacuum sealer

I have been looking in to getting a vacuum food sealer. I have one think it was a lidl one but never got on with it. And thinking it was me rather than the machine.

Aldi have one in the moment seems to have more controls then my last one and when I was in lat night it was reduced from £199.99 down to £12.99.

I think this is the correct one https://www.aldi.co.uk/vacuum-food-sealer-%26-sealer-refills/p/000000317404300

Has anyone got one and tell me what it is like before I buy it.

Thanks in advance.

Yours

I bought that machine with some bags and 1 roll a few weeks ago for £19.99. I found the instructions a bit skimpy and had never used one before so looked at a few youtube vids and then got on fine, have been vac packing loads of stuff:D A batch of yummy flap jack with loads of apricots and stuff in was really too big to eat quickly so I packed some batches and it has kept beautifully.

Had a blip last week when I thought it was not working, but tried again later and found that it was operator error and that I did not have the bag located far against the stop bar thingy, so all happy again now.

I bought more rolls from Aldi on line, but next time will check ebay/amazon etc.

Obvs don't know how long it will last, but more than happy for the moment. HTH

P.S. I was a bit vigorous packing a couple of soft bread rolls for the freezer and they are squashed almost beyond recognition, but at the worst will make a bread and butter pud for my OH.

£19.99 is the correct price so for £12.99 I would go for it, I bought my first about 7 years ago, can`t recall make and it was very hit and miss, saw a good deal last year on Amazon, so got a different one, really going well, so I use it more.
I buy the bag rolls from Lidl when in stock as best value for me, wash and reuse unless something smelly or oily like salmon, find they just will not reseal if greasy.
Do I need it or just want it.

I think its one of those weekly things that has not sold well in my local shop there have been about 5 on the shelf for the last couple of weeks hence the reduced price.

I was tempted but money is tight. I might pop back this evening to see if any left.

Plastic, but they are washable and re-useable.

  • Its just another needless kitchen gimmick appliance.
That's probably why they are all still on the shelf.

Washable & reusable bags sound like a recipe for food poisoning to me.

I have no particular views on vacuum sealers but I have found that Aldi are excellent on refunds if you have any problems

The most amusing in my local store was when I saw a father and child returning a Teddy Bear that would only speak in Spanish! The assistant's face was a picture.:D

I have found they extend the freezer life of lots of items, especially meats with the air vacuumed out, obviously the reuse of bags is limited by what was previously in them.
Unfortunately I have a gadget addiction, do have some items never or seldom used, this is not one of those.
