No that wasn't what was said.
What an incredibly impolite reply. Recently on MSE there's been a whole host of complaints about newish tumble dryers going on fire.
Also complaints about new OLED tv's and screen burn.0 -

Yes that is exactly what they were saying because the OP was talking about a newer versions of a motor and their reply was that saying newer versions were generally accepted to be inferior.
Yes there can be problems with newer technology but people seem to forget older technology also suffered with alot of issues.0
