I’m not sure why I deserve so many sarcastic comments? I’ve never encountered this problem before so didn’t even know you could chargeback.
If the item is priced at over £100 and you used credit card (even if you only paid a small amount on credit card) then you can do a section 75 claim - which makes the creditor jointly & severally liable with the retailer. Meaning if you have a claim against the retailer, you have the same claim against the creditor. It does also apply to other forms of credit but credit card is the main one.
If the item is priced at under £100 or you used debit card (theres a lower limit of £10 for visa i think) then chargeback. Not as good as s75 as it is reliant on the card issuers own policy (as in visa, mastercard...not the bank). But its still better than nothing! This is where the bank try to recover the funds from the retailer. The retailer can contest it but they're unlikely to do so in your circumstances. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

Thank you for the info. I phoned MBNA today and they said they’ll try and recover it and contact me in a few days.0
