We posted a parcel to Germany at the weekend ... we were asked as to the contents but not the value (that I recall).

This one looked like just a rant rather than request for advice.
  • I'm afraid I wouldn't hold out for RM settling. We bought something on eBay which seller posted Signed For RM. We didn't receive it. I contacted Seller who posted "evidence" from RM showing it was signed for (falsified, it wasn't my signature) so eBay not interested in helping us as they had "seen proof" I tried claiming it through RM but they needed lots of info regarding the seller which the seller was not prepared to give me. Moral of the story using RM.... David & Goliath and you're not going to be Goliath.

My Biblical knowledge may be a bit rusty, but didn't David slay Goliath?

    Hi All.

I have two daughters who live in Cyprus and so I have to send their Christmas presents to them via Royal Mail (DHL too expensive) I duly sent 3 parcels on 9/11/19 via International Track and Signed for.

Two of the parcels contained clothing they got there no problem however the third parcel was an I phone 11 (worth about £1400!) which has not arrived in Cyprus, when checking the posting receipt tracking number discovered that it had been delivered to Paphos in France and signed for? Not only have they delivered to the wrong country - there does not even appear to be a Paphos in France. I telephoned RM yesterday and spoke to a very unhelpful person who informed me that the parcel was 'lost' and could not be retrieved because it had been signed for.
I would not however accept this and spoke to someone else in their International Deliveries Department, this person couldn't have been more different she informed me that she would get onto this immediately and said it did not come under lost whatsoever because it was totally RM's responsibility and so the £50 compensation limit did not reply but if the item is not found and re-directed to Cyprus then RM would compensate to the full amount. However not before I needed to report it as stolen to the police and also informing RM that I was prepared to go through the small claims court as I had the receipt of posting which clearly states the parcel was supposed to be delivered to Cyprus and NOT FRANCE.

Moral of this story for anyone with a similar tale to tell is don't take the first 'excuse' you are given think about it and then make a plan.

What service did you use and how much insurance cover did you have? I'm hoping the £50 was a mistype.

It's in the 1st paragraph

    Even at best
Additional compensation cover up to £250

Also Op should have declared a phone in the package.
As certain types of batteries are not allowed in the post. Especially if going via air.

Many batteries are prohibited from being sent international with Royal Mail but provided that the battery is connected up to the phone or other device, it doesn't exceed the maximum permitted power rating, it's not damaged and it is correctly packed and labelled then the phone is fine to send via RM even if it's going by air.
