Royal mail failure!!!

Hi All.
I have two daughters who live in Cyprus and so I have to send their Christmas presents to them via Royal Mail (DHL too expensive) I duly sent 3 parcels on 9/11/19 via International Track and Signed for.
Two of the parcels contained clothing they got there no problem however the third parcel was an I phone 11 (worth about £1400!) which has not arrived in Cyprus, when checking the posting receipt tracking number discovered that it had been delivered to Paphos in France and signed for? Not only have they delivered to the wrong country - there does not even appear to be a Paphos in France. I telephoned RM yesterday and spoke to a very unhelpful person who informed me that the parcel was 'lost' and could not be retrieved because it had been signed for.
I would not however accept this and spoke to someone else in their International Deliveries Department, this person couldn't have been more different she informed me that she would get onto this immediately and said it did not come under lost whatsoever because it was totally RM's responsibility and so the £50 compensation limit did not reply but if the item is not found and re-directed to Cyprus then RM would compensate to the full amount. However not before I needed to report it as stolen to the police and also informing RM that I was prepared to go through the small claims court as I had the receipt of posting which clearly states the parcel was supposed to be delivered to Cyprus and NOT FRANCE.
Moral of this story for anyone with a similar tale to tell is don't take the first 'excuse' you are given think about it and then make a plan.

I think you are perhaps jumping the gun, it sounds as if this is still in play. Wait until the parcel is delivered or you have a refund.0 -

Irrespective of how and why it may have been delivered to the wrong location, are you honestly saying that you posted an item worth £1400 via a service that only provides £50 compensation?
Despite what you were told on the phone, I honestly can't see Royal Mail paying out the full value should the phone never be recovered.0 -
Could have been cheaper and safer to fly out and deliver.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

1. I wouldn't celebrate yet - it doesn't appear to me to be resolved
2. Be prepared to lose, as you did not insure the item properly or select a postage method that was appropriate (in this case Parcel Force Priority)You're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0 -
With every package I've ever posted (including one yesterday), I've been asked what the contents were and the value.
So what were your answers to those questions?0
