You'd make sure you had gone to the right address.

So something like https://www1.firstdirect.com/online/#/authentication/username

And not https://www.fristdirect.net/phishingpage/enterdetails

As banks periodically change their URL, I thought that using a bookmark could lead you to visiting an unsecure site.

You know it's a fake one when, on logging into your account and putting in incorrect details, it appears to let you in.

While URLs change, a bank's domain is less likely to change, and even less likely to be released for a scammer to use, especially in the first few months.
If you mean bookmarking http:/example.bank when the URL has changed to https:/example.bank, you should be automatically redirected to the secure site (and then change the bookmark).
