Finally got one of my big milestone wishes, with PEV sales in China reaching 50% for the year.

And interesting to see how heavy the discounting for ICEV's is. I wonder at what point the sales of ICEV's will collapse, simply because people (who are not yet ready/able to buy a PEV) are too scared to risk their money on an ICEV, and delay spending instead.

53% EV Share in China! — June 2025 Sales Report

This good result in June pulled the 2025 share to 50%. BEVs were also up, to 31%. Expect to see plugins continue to grow its share in the following months.
Having a look at the current level of discounts, the news that an EV price war is happening has some truth in it, as the average level of discounts currently stands at 10%. Still, that is nothing compared to ICE sales, where the average discount level stands at 23%!
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

    Forgot about these.

UK registrations for July are OK with PEV's at 34% (BEV's 21.3%, PHEV 12.5%). PEV's at 32% YTD.

    SMMT Registrations

PHEVs seem to be doing very well.

The week's Just Have a Think video is looking at the major restructuring at Ford, intended to make them into a profitable EV manufacturer. First step, chuck out Henry's production line.

Has FORD's CEO lost his mind?

Some grants confirmed for new EVs.

Wonder if these will translate to actual reduced prices for the consumer or simply offset any discounting the manufacturers would have done in any case.

Good results for BEV's and PEV's in August. At 26.5%, BEV sales alone were close to the 28% ZEV mandate, without the added contribution from PHEV's which were at 11.8%. For 2025 so far, PEV's are at 32.5%.

I know that HEV's are just a transitional tool, and PHEV's too I suppose, but adding PEV's and HEV's for August comes to 49.7%, which is fun to see. [For the year HEV's + PEV's are at 46.3%]

[Edit - Oops, forgot a link:-  SMMT August Registrations  ]

Just an add on thought, but I see that the Ford Puma is the top seller for August and for 2025 so far. Given that the new BEV Puma is a smidge cheaper than the base petrol thanks to the Gov BEV subsidy, I wonder if this will impact numbers a bit going forward.

Edit - I see that the Gen E Puma is much, much faster than the petrol version. According to Ford website it can reach 160mph. Wowza.  ;)

    I suspect they mean 160km/h.

I guess the only thing that could work against this is the insurance and charger installation costs which could put some potential converts off.  But I hope I'm wrong

Good point. I've found mention of a 'Power Promise' which appears to be a free home charger and 10,000 mile credit, or £500 off. I think it's for all of their BEV range, but not certain.
