I'd like to see it launched with a play on words, though, the "Tesla Model Too"
That would allow for marketing along the lines of "It's a Tesla, Too..." and would give Elon the model range "Too S3XY"
He hasn't ruled out Q though, as far as I know. Q would be good as the group who've claimed for years that Tesla is just a fraud, and said the TM3 would never be released for real etc etc etc, are called TSLAQ (which denotes bankruptcy), and may also be a play on Qanon. So if we have the Tesla Q, the group would have to attack their own name(ish).
Being silly now, but my favourite naming suggestion for Tesla models a few years back was the Model Too (as you suggested), plus the Model 4, and lastly the Model MyShirt - T00S3XY4MyShirt.Mart. News from Toyota, and similar (but slightly older) news from Kia. Both are 'accelerating' their EV programs, but both seem woefully slow.
Kia is aiming for 30% BEV's by 2030Kia Presents 2030 Roadmap With Accelerated EV Transition Targets
The South Korean manufacturer expects that by 2030 its global sales will increase to about 4 million units annually. More than 2 million (or 52%) will be "eco-friendly" models, including 1.2 million battery electric vehicles (30% of the total).
Toyota was aiming for 1.5m EV's by 2030 (~15%), but has now brought the figure forward to 2026. [I'm reading EV's as BEV's (possibly including HFCV's), but not including PHEV's. I may be wrong.]
A great improvement, but both late, and perhaps tricky now, unless they have a lot of BEV's and production lines up their sleeves - which tbf, Toyota do play things close to their chests, so they may be ramping faster than it looks. The new CEO has also said that the industry is in a 'life or death situation', so looks like the message has finally gotten through.
Toyota Targets Production of 1.5m EVs Annually by 2026In a presentation on Friday, Hiroki Nakajima, Toyota's chief technology officer, said the company is targeting annual production of 1.5 million BEVs by 2026. That's up from a target of one million by 2030 that Toyota announced in 2017.Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Another important milestone has been achieved in Australia. Now that BEV's are being shipped to them in serious numbers, their sales have now exceeded hybrids. Be interesting to follow and see how things workout in 2023, but whatever the PEV choice, I assume that residential solar penetration reaching ~30% helps with the choice.
EV sales overtake hybrids in Australia, grab 6.8 pct of overall new car market
Battery electric vehicles have overtaken hybrid cars for a second month in a row in Australia, and lead them for the first time on a year-to-date basis as the shifting trends in car technology and consumer choice continue to take shape. The sale of mild hybrids (cars that do not need to be plugged in) totalled 5,247 for the month of March. This meant that for the first quarter of 2023, the sale of EVs overtook hybrids – 17,396 to 16,101. Just a year ago, hybrids outsold EVs three to one in Australia, although those official figures from last year did not include Tesla data at the time.

Probably not of too much interest to many, but an article on Australian and New Zealand sales for March. Thought I'd post it, as I'd just mentioned Jan and Feb in Aus. Plus, I do find the markets where BEV's have been a bit slower, but are now accelerating, interesting, as we get to see the transition and what factors are at play.
Slight Dip In March EV Uptake Down Under
For those who would like to drill down into the detail, check out the interactive charts at EVDB. The skinny is that the New Zealand market had a slight dip in the uptake of BEVs (fully electric vehicles) in March 2023 but a massive drop in the purchase of HEVs (conventional hybrids). Compare to February sales results here.
Penetration of the market for the various powertrains was: HEVs — 22% (2,564 units), PHEVs — 4.4% (515 units), BEVs — 22.7% (2,637 units), and full petrol/diesel vehicles — 50.8% (5,911 units).Meanwhile, over the ditch in Australia, BEVs + PHEVS = 7.5 % of total new auto sales. That’s compared to 6.8% in January and 8.1% in February. Penetration of the market for the various powertrains is as follows: HEV 5% (5,247 units); PHEV 0.5% (569 units); BEV 7% (6,612 units), and petrol/diesel 83% (84,823 units). This is out of Australia’s total market sales in March 2023 of 97,251 vehicles.
For the first time in Australia and New Zealand, BEVs outsold conventional hybrid electric vehicles throughout the quarter. Just a year ago, HEVs were outselling BEVs by a significant margin Down Under.
“This growth demonstrates that where Australians can afford a battery electric vehicle which suits their lifestyle, they will buy them,” FCAI chief executive Tony Weber said. Obviously, there is no demand problem.

German figures for March / end of Q1 have now been reported. Small growth for BEV's, and a drop for PHEV's. So similar results all over, with the market slowing down a bit at the start of the year, a PEV shift in favour od BEV's, and more and more ICEV's moving into the HEV/MHEV bracket.
Bit boring tbh!Germany – Tesla Model Y Leads In Hangover Plugin Market
Germany’s plugin electric vehicles took 21.6% of the auto market in March, down from 25.6% year on year. BEV grew share slightly, but PHEVs lost half their share YoY, due to recent policy changes. Overall auto volume was 281,361 units, up over 16% YoY, but still well down from pre-2020 seasonal norms.
March’s combined plugin share of 21.6% comprised 15.7% full electrics (BEVs), and 6.0% plugin hybrids (PHEVs). These shares compare with corresponding YoY figures of 25.6%, 14.3%, and 11.3%.
Recall that we are still in the hangover phase of the significant plugin incentive cuts that came in on January 1st (see reports from December and January for more detail). Despite this, in volume terms, BEVs saw decent YoY growth, slightly ahead of the overall market, growing sales 28% to 44,125 units. This was close to the 3rd highest volume ever (trailing the past two Decembers).

Q1 results from the Netherlands are surprisingly interesting. Looking at the sales graphs, they tend to tick along slowly, then a Dec/Q4 spike, but this year something has happened(?) and Q1 has been consistently strong every month. Usually Q1 is the worst for BEV's but strong for ICEV's.
The longer term chart is interesting too, whilst the monthly sales are all peaks and troughs, the averaged trend lines for ICEV's and BEV's are nice to see.1st Quarter Dutch BEV Sales Above Expectations With 25.5% Market Share
The number of BEVs registered in Q1 was 25,101 (4,974 + 6,892 + 13,225), for 25.5% market share (15% in January, 25% in February, 35% in March). FFV registrations were 73,324 (27,871 + 21,236 + 24,217), giving a total of 98,425 vehicle registrations (32,845 + 28,128 + 37,452).

In the US, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) plans to raise fuel regulations, and push for higher BEV penetration. Aiming for 54%+ by 2030.
Biden team to propose strict vehicle pollution limits to boost EV sales
The Biden administration will propose strict new automobile pollution limits requiring that all-electric vehicles account for as many as two of every three new vehicles sold in the US by 2032 in a plan that would transform the US auto industry.
Under the proposed regulation, expected to be released by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Wednesday, greenhouse gas emissions for the 2027 through 2032 model years for passenger vehicles would be limited to even stricter levels than the auto industry agreed to in 2021.The proposal would require at least 54% of new vehicles sold in the US to be electric by 2030, four percentage points higher than the 2021 goal that the industry previously agreed to, and up to 67% of new vehicles by 2032. The 2021 agreement came after strong pressure from President Biden, who signed an executive order setting a target for half of all new vehicles sold in 2030 to be zero-emissions vehicles.

Article summarising EV sales in 2022. Nice little run around the World, with a selection of countries, including the UK.
Fast Growing EV Sales Around The World In 2022 — Charts!
Just 5–10 years ago, I’d say 90% of EV enthusiasts were underestimating how much electric vehicle share of the overall auto market would grow in Europe and China. (The US is currently … quite far behind. But EV market share is growing here, too.) If you haven’t been obsessively following CleanTechnica‘s monthly EV sales reports for several European countries, Europe as a whole, and China, below is a bit of a roundup for 2022. For each of these summaries, I’ll highlight plugin vehicle (EV) market share, full electric (BEV) market share, the top 3 BEV models, and the top automakers in terms of BEV unit sales. This story will wrap up with a look at global EV sales in 2022.
