Article looking at the European countries that are slower to move to PEV's/BEV's (numbers for both). The good news is that the growth of the slower countries is still OK, they are simply just a few years behind. This is similar to the US, where they seem to be lagging about 2yrs behind the UK, Germany, China (as examples).

EV Market Share Growth In 16 Lagging European Countries

I recently explored the market share growth of electric vehicles in 15 European countries where electric vehicles have become most popular. From 15.9% market share for plugin vehicles in Ireland to 86.1% market share for plugin vehicles in Norway, those countries are racing into the mass market stage of new tech adoption (plugin vehicle adoption). In terms of full electric vehicles (BEVs), the range in market share ranged from 5.7% in Belgium to 64.5% in Norway. Those are the 15 leaders of the EV transition in Europe — and just add China for the list of the top 16 countries globally. How about the rest of Europe?

One of the most exciting things about growth of EV market share in Europe is how widespread it is. Rather than seeing rapid growth in just 3 or 4 countries, the growth canvasses the continent. Of course, this is largely due to EU-wide requirements for automakers to lower the CO2 emissions of the vehicles the sell or pay huge fines. The EV sales growth isn’t uniform across Europe, though. If you go east or south, the market share of EVs in those countries drops off significantly. That said, we’re also seeing steep growth of EV market share in those Eastern European and Southern European countries as well — it’s just more akin to what you see in the United States than in the Netherlands. Let’s have a stroll through these 16 remaining markets and see what’s been happening.
The biggest takeaways are that BEV sales spiked in all of these markets in the past two years and they have reached the level that the top 15 countries were at a few years ago.

Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

The trouble is, irrespective of individual posters, this thread can no longer maintain balance as it is now redefined as "BEV Cheerleading Thread" so any negative observation is not within that criteria.
I think the main point was that the thread should not be argumentative.

Not really see why we need 'Cheerleading' in the title at all ?

Surely  "Battery Electric Vehicle News Thread - No argumentative points please"  would have done.

I think it was a joke/tongue in cheek. Although I find that some MSE readers have difficulty with that concept.

Then someone would post some (perceived to be) negative BEV news and if argument were banned that would have to go unchallenged. Best to keep it for the good news as intended by the cheerleading moniker.

    Not necessarily.

As @Martyn1981 says “….. the intention for this thread was to enjoy the transport revolution and share BEV news. That might even be described as a 'cheerleading thread' I suppose, and I'm not sure why that would be wrong on a Green & Ethical Board. But it's definitely not a discussion thread

Yeah, I thought it might lighten the mood, and was only meant to be temporary till things settle down.

But arguing about it has a certain beautiful irony, and shows just how human we all are.

I think this is just as important as news of the next gigagactory or latest 2 tonne SuV.  This is going to be the mainstay of the change  to EVs in a lot of places.
Certainly from a noxious urban emissions point of view.

I also think the massive rollout of BEV two wheelers in Asia is incredibly important, and the speed of adoption is great news too. But most impressive is the battery swapping that's taking place with the very simple 'wall of batteries' where folk drop off a battery and take a charged one. A really elegant solution.

And from the sublime to the ridiculous!

Electric 'fan' car sets new all time record for the Goodwood Festival of Speed - hill climb.

I remember the short lived F1 fan car that sucked out air from underneath to make it stick to the road. Well this short vid is worth watching as it's simply insane. It may not be very practical ......  :D ...... but everytime a BEV does something hardcore, I think it helps cement the fact that a superior technology has arrived.

Watch an electric “fan car” beat every car ever at Goodwood Hill Climb
A fully electric car has beaten every car ever at the Goodwood Hillclimb track at the Festival of Speed, an annual gathering and demonstration of racing vehicles in England. The McMurtry Speirling fan car driven by Indycar and ex-F1 driver Max Chilton set a record of 39.08 seconds on the 1.86km (1.16 mile) course, almost a second better than the previous record.
