I thought the reason the SUV style is popular is because women like them and they tend to be the car buying decision makes, at least in the non-fleet market.

When I sit down at home my feet and bum are not at the same height, why would I want to sit that way in a car?

My back couldn't agree more, though to my surprise the TM3 is very comfy, can't work that one out. Plus of course better spatial awareness, I miss the added height I had in the Zafira, and Meriva before that, with the ability to read high level brake lights many cars ahead.

Quick rant - does everyone hate being behind a tall van in heavy traffic (so you can't read the flow of traffic), when the driver is one of those 'brake and squirt' types, or is it just me?
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

For general PV advice please see the PV FAQ thread on the Green & Ethical Board.

Not just you Martyn.  Sometimes I wish I was one of those oblivious drivers that just amble on, unaware of the wake of frustrated drivers behind them. But No, I'm in patient and expect everyone to drive with the courtesy of a chauffeur, the precision of an IAM member and the speed of an F1 driver!

UK road pricing could be here by 2024

The Transport Select Committee has presented its report to MPs backing the introduction of a new road pricing structure to replace fuel duty and VED (Vehicle Excise Duty) as a means of generating tax revenue to plug the financial hole created by the switch to electric vehicles.

Any new road pricing structure would replace the current VED and fuel duty by means of ‘dynamic tax charges’ that charge driver’s a variable price per-mile depending on the time, location and type of vehicle being driven. As well as a means of raising tax revenue, the report states that it could also be designed to modify driver’s behaviour with a key objective of reducing urban traffic by as much as 50 per cent by 2030.

On one level, this is a necessary step - it would be daft to have charger networks linked to specific manufacturers for the long term.

On the other, the main reason to buy a Tesla compared to any other EV is the charging network.
