Isn’t this thread meant to be a discussion and debate about BEV developments; hopefully an intelligent and friendly one?
In Today’s Telegraph, Stephen Fry (talking to Jordan Peterson):
I’m so tired, and distressed, and worried by the great fissure that has opened up: the culture wars, or whatever we like to call it. The assumption that there are your friends and your enemies and no ground in between; no commonality, no cohesion of viewpoint, no shared things that can happen between people who represent different ways of looking at the world.
Some friends of mine, who disapprove of you, would think I was doing something wrong by associating with you. I hope our debate shows that isn’t the case. I think fundamentally, as I do of almost everybody I meet, that we have so much more in common than we have separating us.
We all, I hope, enjoy BEVs and want to hear and talk about them for better or worse.

I love this series of vids, much akin to my policy of, just call it out, appeasement never works.

Why bother with EV's when you can have a !!!!!! policy instead!
[Edit - Wow - MSE has altered my post as the Austrialian policy acronym is, presumably too rude! M.]

I can't afford £50k for a Tesla or £25k for a new MG but a ten-year-old BEV or PHEV might just about be in my price range, and with the PHEV I won't be entirely reliant on a ten-year-old battery.N. The satisfaction of not lying under an ice car every other weekend cannot be understated.
Leaf has been absolutely flawless, and the wife does double the mileage in it than she was doing in the ice car before, because charging at various places (including home, shopping and various work places) is so much more convenient for her.
But as this thread has recently shown, the Scottish central belt has a significantly better charger infrastructure than most of England, (Though I did over a thousand miles around England 2 summers ago, with no charging issues) so I couldn't comment on your own areas charging, nor tell you that your charging experience would be as positive.West central Scotland

“But the real joy of the Leaf isn’t the money, it’s the motor, and its charming grace. For the way most people drive (if not, literally, for petrolheads), it’s simply a better source of motion.”

I see a real challenge to the MG EV's in this regard because of their massive discounting to public sector:- MG5 for "average Joe" = £25k - £27.5k. For public sector = £20k - £22.5k
- MG ZX EV for "average Joe" = £26k - £28.5k. For public sector = £21.5k - £23.5k
That aside, IMO the two best EVs available right now are the MG5 and the TM3.0 -
JKenH said:Just seen a 40kwh Leaf for sale at £13999 which should give you a minimum 100 mile range in virtually all circumstances. I really like mine.I think we're talking different languages here, in 33 years of motoring I've bought seven cars and their purchase prices total £12k - which includes £4k I once paid for an 18-month-old Fiat Punto (and which, to be fair, I enjoyed driving for nine years).Admittedly my current car is 17 years old so if that Leaf lasted to the same age without needing serious work it would work out as about £1k/year (and I'd be nearly 70 by then).N.
